1987 ROLLS-ROYCE SILVER SPIRIT

This 1987 Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit is an elegant modern classic luxury car, presented in a timeless colour combination and with a suitably lavish cabin. It is powered by a 6.75-litre V8, which is mated to a three-speed automatic transmission. The odometer displays 117,334 miles from new.

The bodywork presents well, with straight panels, even shut lines and no evidence of any prior accident damage. Believed to have been either partly or fully resprayed in the past, the deep metallic blue paintwork is described by the vendor as being in fair overall condition, with a few marks and blemishes around the vehicle, in line with its mileage.

All of the exterior trim, including the signature ‘Pantheon’ grille and the iconic Spirit of Ecstasy bonnet ornament is in great shape, and the light lenses are clear and free of cracks. The car rides on a set of 15-inch alloy wheels, which have some scratches and scuffs on their surfaces, so would benefit from refurbishment in due course.

On stepping into the opulent cabin, you are met by swathes of cream leather and wood trim. Accented by blue piping with fluted centre sections, the seats are in very good order, with no signs of damage and only the usual age-related creases on their surfaces. The wood trim adorning the upper door cards and dashboard is generally smart, though its lacquer is cracking in several places. Ahead, the steering wheel has been replaced with a wood-rimmed item, which is unmarked. Bringing this refined classic into the 21st century is a modern infotainment system, while front and rear parking sensors have also been fitted. All of the switchgear is reported to work without fault, and there are no warning lights displayed on the dashboard.

This Silver Spirit’s most recent routine maintenance was a full service, which was carried out in 2019. Prior to this, it was serviced in 2018, when a number of rear suspension components were also replaced. The car is almost entirely standard, save for an upgraded exhaust system, and the previously mentioned infotainment system and parking sensors.

Its last Revisione roadworthiness test was conducted in 2019, which it passed without any warnings. All four wheels are shod in Hercules Ultra Touring TR tyres, which are in good condition but date to 2010, and as such would benefit from replacement.

As elegant today as it was in 1987, this Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit is a fine example of the first-generation car, presented in good order for its age, and in an attractive colour scheme. While its next owner may wish to attend to some of the car’s minor cosmetic issues, this fantastically luxurious vehicle is ready to enjoy immediately, and will cocoon its occupants in the utmost comfort during every journey.
