1987 PORSCHE 911 (930) TURBO - LHD AND ONE OWNER

This Porsche 930 Turbo is a remarkable unrestored example of the model, with low mileage and just one owner from new. This smart black-on-black 911 is a bona fide 1980s ‘poster car’, which has covered just 71,399 km (44,347 miles) from new. Its engine is the 3.3-litre turbocharged flat-six, coupled to a four-speed manual transmission.

Factory delivered on the 23rd of March 1987 to the current owner, it was imported to the UK later that year. It was re-registered as ‘D255 HBP’, and soon afterwards as ‘HOT 150N’. The original ‘Oval’ German export plate is present with copies of the export documentation. This example was specified from the factory with the sunroof option and limited-slip differential.

The athletic bodywork of this 930 is in excellent condition, with a smooth and glossy finish to the black paint and with impressive shut lines and panel gaps. The car has never suffered from any accident damage, and has only had remedial paintwork to the front end in the 1990s to rectify stone chips. Today, the only blemishes noted by the seller are typical ‘road rash’ marks and small chips.

Rubber items such as the bumpers and trim around the iconic rear spoiler are well preserved, as are the door shuts and fuel filler area. Other than the front respray as noted above, the seller states that the paintwork is original. The 16-inch Fuchs forged alloy wheels are in great shape, with the correct satin black centre petals and polished rims.

The interior presents as well as you would expect of such a low-mileage example, with modest wear to the leather on the electrically adjustable and heated sport seats, and retaining its original steering wheel and gear knob. The rear seats are also in superb condition. The under bonnet area is clean and tidy, and houses a space-saver spare wheel, air compressor, and tools.

When the car was ordered new, the owner requested that a cassette and CD player was fitted. This was done at the factory and a different centre console was fitted – evidenced by a separate invoice. Unfortunately, the original Pioneer components stopped working a few years later and the Porsche dealer in the UK replaced them with an Alpine cassette player with dual amp balancer, as well as an Alpine CD player in the top dashboard section.

In 1991, this 911 was subtly upgraded in the style of the Turbo LE – the limited edition run-out model – with slightly lowered suspension, a larger turbocharger, new intercooler and an uprated exhaust. All the work was done by Porsche specialist Dage Sport, later renamed G Force, in Aylesbury. However, all of the original components remain with the car.

The car was most recently serviced in March 2020 by Porsche specialist CT Racing Limited, which carried out an engine oil and filter change, with fresh spark plugs, brake pads and fluid. The two prior services were carried out by CT Racing and marque specialist Wrightune. The most recent MOT test was on 23 April 2020, which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories whatsoever. Its wheels are shod in a good set of Continental SportContact tyres, in size 205/55 ZR16 at the front and 245/45 ZR16 at the rear.

This Porsche 930 Turbo is a superb 1980s sports car, and a genuine icon of its time. It blends exciting and engaging performance with an excellent reliability record. Finding a 930 Turbo in such good condition is increasingly hard, but to find a car with only one owner and less than 50,000 miles from new is virtually unheard of. Offered directly from its keeper of 33 years, this is an unrepeatable opportunity to acquire a ‘cult’ modern classic with impeccable provenance.
