This Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 Sport is a smart example of one of the most usable, exciting and typically reliable classic sports cars. It is powered by the 3.2-litre air-cooled flat-six, producing around 228bhp when new, coupled to a five-speed manual transmission. The odometer shows 103,865 miles.
An original UK market car, this 911 is believed to have been first delivered to an ophthalmologist in London, and has very good service history covering its time in Britain, up to just over 90,000 miles. It has been owned by the current vendor for the last eight years.
Its bodywork and paint are reported to be in generally excellent condition, the Guards Red finish is believed to be largely original. The vendor advises that some minor rust was removed from the rear bumper bar area and rear guard, and then resprayed. Rubber trims have also been renewed with OEM Porsche parts from Germany, and overall this 911 is still in very good order. It rides on the correct 16-inch Fuchs alloy wheels, finished with satin black centre ‘petals’.
Inside, the cabin upholstery presents in superb order, and again is thought to be original. It is equipped with Sport seats featuring electric adjustment, which have no rips or holes in the material, and only minor wear visible on the driver’s seat outer bolster. The door panels and dashboard are in very good condition. As well as the desirable Sport seats, factory-fitted features include electric windows, a sunroof, and even the period-perfect Blaupunkt Paris stereo. All of the electrical items are reported to work perfectly, with no warning lights or faults.
Its last scheduled maintenance was in November 2020 at EMD Porsche at approximately 103,000 miles. All of the fluids were changed, and the engine was serviced, along with new spark plugs. A diagnostic report has also been carried out, as well as a recent leak-down test.
During the vendor’s ownership, a complete new factory exhaust system has been installed, as well as new gear selectors, a fuel tank sender and temperature sensor, fuel pump, a steering mount bush, and LED headlight bulbs. The number plate lights and rear brake lights have also been attended to, and the dashboard instrument panel has also received an LED upgrade. All of the wheel bolts have been replaced, along with front bonnet and rear engine lid struts.
The most recent eSafety (‘pink slip’) roadworthiness inspection was carried out in January 2020, which the vendor reports contained no warnings or alerts about the car’s condition. All four wheels are shod in Pirelli P6000 tyres, which are said to have been changed recently, so remain in excellent condition.
Accompanying the car is the original driver’s manual, stamped guarantee and maintenance record, service directory, ownership guide, and a Mobile Track Record log book. The original user guide for the Blaupunkt Paris radio is also present. There are also numerous receipts to cover some previous service visits.
This Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 Sport is a great modern classic, which the vendor states runs and drives very well, cruising smoothly and feeling mechanically tight and responsive. Having spent around 22 years in the UK, the Porsche is now located in New South Wales, and it is believed to be a highly original example in a timeless factory colour scheme. For someone seeking a 3.2-litre air-cooled Carrera in impressive order throughout, this should prove to be a very tempting prospect.
