This Land Rover 90 County is an excellent example of the multi-purpose 4x4, presented with low mileage and in superb condition. Under the bonnet sits the 3.5-litre Rover V8, coupled with a five-speed manual transmission. The odometer currently indicates 46,180 miles from new.

The Land Rover 90 County – the name ‘Defender’ was not introduced until 1990 – was billed as a capable family vehicle rather than a rugged off-roader, with a more comfortable cabin and various exterior styling options. First registered in February 1986, this example was initially used as a demonstrator vehicle for Lookers Land Rover, and is understood to have had just one private owner for the 34 years following that, until it was acquired by the current vendor last year.

The bodywork is all in good order, and its blue paintwork looks smart for its age, having evidently been well preserved. The vendor is not aware of any previous paintwork, and its appearance suggests it is probably all original. It features County V8 decals on the wings, which present very well, though the rear Land Rover emblem has suffered some discolouration. The black grille, headlight surrounds and fuel filler cap present with some light marks, though these are commensurate with the age and mileage. The vehicle rides on a set of white steel 16-inch wheels, which are in generally very good order.

Inside, the beige fabric upholstery is in good condition, presenting with just some minor age-related wear. There are a few small scratches on the plastic dashboard trim, though the original stereo remains present, and all of the switchgear is reported to work as it should. The rear seats are in similarly good condition, and like the rest of the car, they appear to be original and well-cared for.

The most recent MOT test was on 22 March 2021 at 46,194 miles, which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories or defects. The wheels come wrapped with Avon Rangemaster tyres. Accompanying the vehicle are the original handbook and service record, along with a raft of old MOT certificates dating back to 1990.

This Land Rover 90 County V8 is a superb all-purpose 4x4, with genuine low mileage, and which presents as a highly original example in very good order throughout. A former demonstrator vehicle with just one previous private owner, this charming Land Rover would make a highly capable daily driver or a fine addition to any collection on British classics.
