• It also features cruise control, Dolby sound system with four-way speakers, velour interior, central locking, power steering, air conditioning, electric windows and mirrors, a digital dashboard and pop-up headlamps.
• Maintained in remarkably original condition, with the only addition being an aftermarket immobiliser system.
• Sold with the original owner’s manual and service/warranty booklet, as well as the original tools, sales brochure and recent service history.

CONDITION

• To the best of the current owner’s knowledge, the car has not suffered any bodywork damage. Panels are in good condition, as is the exterior trim, which shows only modest ‘patina’ for its age. There is a minor scrape on the passenger side front bumper.
• Paintwork is believed to be original and has been maintained in very good condition. There are some blemishes in the finish, minor wear on the linework and some very small chips and scratches, all of which is consistent with the car’s age.
• The velour interior is original and, benefitting from a recent detail and steam clean, is in very good condition, as is the rest of the cabin trim and the brilliant ‘80s dashboard and controls. There is some wear on the driver’s seat and colour fade in the door linings.
• Mechanically sound, the Piazza’s electronics, controls and gauges are also in good condition. The only issue to report is a slow-rising passenger side electronic window.
• A roadworthy inspection was carried out in November 2020, and the car passed first time through, without issue.

SERVICE HISTORY

• Seen by A-Z Auto Sydney in February 2021 at 107,364 km, a routine service was carried out, including fresh engine oil and filter and replacing the fuel pump, fuel pump filter and vacuum hose.
• An engine oil and filter change was carried out in January 2019 at 104,984 km.
• In September 2018, a service was carried out, during which the cylinder head and inlet manifold face were machined, and new valves and valve guides installed.
• The drive belt was last replaced in 2018.
• Other maintenance in the last five years has included new tyres, detailing and interior steam cleaning.

SUMMARY

Only 200 examples made it to Australian shores, and with these cars arriving very late in their worldwide production, this beautifully preserved 1986 Holden Piazza XE is not a car you will see on the road very often - especially in such original condition. It is a crisply styled, well-appointed and unusual slice of Holden’s history, and, in sound mechanical condition, would make a very useable and fun modern classic.
