1986 FERRARI 328 GTS

This Ferrari 328 GTS is a very smart and low-mileage example of the marque’s 1980s two-seater sports car, presented in a rare and vibrant factory colour. Mounted in the engine bay is a characterful 3.2-litre V8 producing around 270hp, coupled to a five-speed manual transmission. The odometer shows just 25,751 miles, which is believed to be correct.

An early non-ABS car with the concave alloy wheel design, this car is understood to be one of only two cars delivered to the UK in Giallo Fly, and was first registered in April 1986. Unlike many Ferraris of the period that were repainted in red, there is no record of a colour change on this car. The car is now in the trade, and is offered to another enthusiast to enjoy.

The bodywork of this 328 is reported to be in very good condition, with no evidence of any damage and no scuffs or scrapes in the panels. Its Giallo paint looks smooth and even around the car - although there is a noticeable blemish on the nearside front wing behind the wheel, and a some minor chips elsewhere. It retains the correct satin black finishes to the targa roof panel, and the front and rear bumper valances. The exhaust tail pipes have a bright and polished appearance.

All of the window seals and door rubbers are sound, and there is no damage to any of the light lenses or glass. The car rides on the original 16-inch Cromodora alloy wheels, with a 7-inch width at the front and 8-inch at the rear, which are in good order having only a few nicks around the rims.

Inside, the trim appears to be completely original, with the high-quality black Connolly leather showing only some wear and scuffs to the driver’s side seat bolster and base. Elsewhere, it presents wonderfully for its age, with no other damage and only a few small marks. The original steering wheel and gear knob are also present, and even the stereo head unit and speakers appear to be period-correct.

The car is in very good mechanical condition, and has just received a major service and cam belt replacement in June 2020 at Meridien Modena in Lyndhurst. Prior to this, it was seen by DK Engineering in October 2019 at 25,743 miles, where it had a thorough inspection, engine oil and filter change, and fresh brake fluid.

The most recent MOT test on file was on 9 June 2020 at 25,765 miles, which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories whatsoever. Accompanying this 328 GTS is an original jack, ratchet, and wheel brace, along with the storage bag housing an aged spare drive belt and light bulbs. A full-size spare wheel and tyre is also present.

This Ferrari 328 GTS is an excellent example of a superb 1980s sports car, fresh from a major service. The 328 is often seen as a great choice for a first Ferrari, due to its combination of relatively straightforward mechanicals and impressive performance - blending a ‘classic’ feel with modern-era levels of reliability. This particular car is a low-mileage gem in a rare and eye-catching factory colour, and would make a great addition to any collection.
