An early pre-ABS example that has been diligently cared for, this 1986 Ferrari 328 GTB is finished in the timeless combination of Rosso Corsa with beige leather. Powered by a characterful 3.2-litre V8 engine producing around 270hp, and paired with a five-speed manual transmission, this example has covered 48,830 miles since new.
First registered on 12 November 1986, the car was supplied by Ferrari dealer Emblem Sports Cars in Dorset. There are just six previous registered keepers on the log book. The seller has owned the car for approximately four years, in which time the car has been driven sparingly, and has been kept in a climate-controlled garage as part of his private collection.
The Rosso Corsa paintwork of this 328 is reported to be in excellent condition, with very few stone chips and blemishes. Shut lines and panel gaps are impressive, and the internal painted areas such as door jambs and the engine bay channels present very well. Light lenses and plastic body trims appear to be free of damage, and the seals and rubbers are in good order. The wheels are the original 16-inch concave alloys, which are great shape – showing only a few small nicks – and are fitted with new Bridgestone Potenza tyres all round.
The beige leather interior appears to be all original, and is in very good overall condition. There is some slightly discolouration and scuffs to the driver’s seat bolster, but otherwise only modest wear throughout. All switchgear is in good order, and it retains the correct gear knob and steering wheel – the latter exhibiting a smart patina around the leather-trimmed rim. The headlining presents superbly, and the only non-original item appears to be the Sony radio cassette deck.
The car has been regularly serviced throughout its life, a summary of which is below. This service history reads very well, showing frequent cam belt changes even in periods of limited use. The belts were last changed in 2017 at 48,787 miles.
The most recent service was carried out in 2019 by A E Performance, which comprised an oil and filter service, new water pump, and new coils and ignition leads at a cost of £1,297. Prior to this, the car received an oil and filter service and refurbishment of the fuel injection system, also by A E Performance, in 2018 at a cost of £2,452. Its last MOT test was on 7 December 2019 at 48,830 miles, which it passed with no advisories.
This Ferrari 328 GTB is an impressive example of the breed, sold with its original literature, including the stamped guarantee and maintenance record. It is also a very rare sight on the road; understood to be one of just 77 pre-ABS coupes built in right-hand drive. The 328 is a great choice of first Ferrari for those looking for a classic model rather than a contemporary supercar, and this particular GTB benefits from superb service history to ensure it remains in excellent running order today.
