1985 PORSCHE 911 CARRERA 3.2 SPORT

Finished in a lesser-seen colour combination of Garnet Red with Maroon leather, this 1985 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 Sport is a fine example of a pure air-cooled 911. A Motronic-injection car boasting smooth power and torque delivery, this vehicle is presented in great original condition today, with an odometer reading of 72,495 miles.

The vendor of this 911, who owned a Porsche specialist garage for three decades, reports that the car boasts a fine originality, crisp factory shut lines and a fantastic driving experience. Powered by a 3.2-litre air-cooled flat six engine, paired with a five-speed manual gearbox driving the rear wheels, this gorgeous classic 911 is complete with iconic ‘whale tail’ spoiler and is sold in on-the-button condition.

First registered on 1 January 1985, the car has had just four previous owners and has covered only around 25 miles with the current owner. The vendor notes that the first owner of the car was John ‘JT’ Aldington, managing director of Porsche Cars GB.

The gorgeous Garnet Red bodywork showcases the curves of the 911 perfectly and is in very good condition all round. As shown in the photographs, there are some minor defects, such as small chips and scratched door handles, but the internal painted areas, such as the door shuts and engine bay, present well. The 16-inch Fuchs wheels, with black centres and polished rims, are in great condition all round.

Moving inside, the Maroon leather interior shows a lovely patina. The folding seats with white piping show minimal wear with no reported defects; although, there is some slight discoloration to the piping. The matching dashboard and steering wheel also present well, with a period-correct Blaupunkt radio and cassette player in place. This example also benefits from the sunroof option, which is reported to be fully operational. The front boot area presents well and retains the spare wheel. The car is also fitted with a non-original stainless steel exhaust system.

The vendor states that the car has been regularly maintained by Regan Motors, which the vendor notes employs an air-cooled expert that he worked with in Porsche racing during the 1960s and 1970s. Most recently, this expert performed an oil/filter service and general check on the vehicle. The vendor states that the car has a large history file outlining consistent maintenance to keep the car in excellent mechanical condition.

The car was MOT tested on 11 March 2020 with no advisories, and it is currently wearing Pirelli P6000 tyres all round, which are in very good condition with around five millimeters of tread.

The car is supplied with a comprehensive history file with many previous MOT certificates and more, as well a replacement Porsche service book.
