1985 JAGUAR XJ-S V12 - 120 KM FROM NEW

This Jaguar XJ-S V12 Coupe is a classic British grand tourer, in astonishingly original and unrestored ‘time-warp’ condition throughout, having never been registered on the road. Under the bonnet is a 5.3-litre naturally-aspirated V12, driven through a three-speed automatic gearbox. The car has remained in storage for 35 years, so the odometer reads just 120 km (75 miles) from new.

Having never been registered, the Jaguar remains entirely original and unmodified. This elegant cruiser was originally delivered to the German market, but has been owned by the current vendor for the last 25 years and currently resides in Sweden. If purchased by a buyer in the UK, the car can be transported to Phil Stott Motorsport in the UK free-of-charge.

As you would expect from a car which has spent its life in storage, the XJ-S’ blue paintwork is virtually unmarked. It retains a deep lustre throughout, and the body panels show no signs of damage. There appear to be some minor age-related marks on the surfaces of some of the body trims, which can be correctly described as patina rather than wear.

All of the badging is present and correct, and the light lenses are original and undamaged. A grey pinstripe tastefully breaks up the blue colouring, which is also unbroken and in good condition. The Jaguar retains its 15-inch five-spoke alloy wheels, which are in great shape, needing nothing more than a clean. They are shod in what are believed to be the original Pirelli P5 tyres, which should be changed on the basis of age if any significant on-road use is intended.

The pristine dark blue leather interior is in superb order, and has luxury touches throughout. Contact points including the gear lever, steering wheel and handbrake cover are damage-free, while the wood veneer trims retain their lacquered finish. This XJ-S features electric windows, air-conditioning, cruise control and an on-board trip computer.

While the car retains its original German-language handbooks and service book, there is unsurprisingly no service history given the lack of on-road use. There are no known faults, but a recommissioning service is of course advised if the intention is to drive this car. It is accompanied by the tool kit, unused spare wheel, and even some period brochures.

Offering what is almost certainly an unrepeatable opportunity to buy an entirely original flagship Jaguar XJ-S, with nothing more than delivery mileage on the odometer, this V12 grand tourer is a remarkable ‘time-warp’ car. While there is no reason it could not be used on the road following a mechanical inspection and service, it is perhaps destined to become a star feature of another private collection.
