1982 PORSCHE 911 CARRERA RS REPLICA

This Porsche 911 is a faithful tribute to the Carrera RS, initially rebuilt around the identity of a 1982 SC (Super Carrera) by the RS Teknik business of renowned specialist Paul Stephens. Under the engine lid sits the 3.0-litre fuel-injected flat-six, coupled with a five-speed manual transmission. The odometer currently indicates 16,227 miles, which is the mileage since the rebuild/backdate.

First registered in August 1982, this 3.0 SC was given a cosmetic backdate to RS appearance under Paul Stephens’ RS Teknik brand, including fitment of the distinctive 'duck tail' rear wing, front bumper, and twin-outlet exhaust.

The bodywork of this RS replica is in excellent shape, and its resprayed white paintwork features a raft of motorsport decals. It now presents with a few small marks around the front end, while some stone chips can be seen on the sills and lower wheel arches, commensurate with the mileage since the backdate build. Some light spotting is visible on the wing mirrors, alongside some scratches to the chrome window surrounds and the edge of the 'duck tail' rear wing. The vehicle rides on a set of 15-inch Minilite wheels, which are in great condition.

Inside, the black leather Clubman RS-style Cobra seats are reported to be brand new, with no noticeable scuffs or creases. The cabin features a three-spoke Momo steering wheel and a layered wood gear knob, both of which present very well, while a Blaupunkt stereo and a set of door-mounted speakers have also been installed. A few small scratches are visible on the dials and their surrounding black trim pieces, though all of the electrics are believed to work as they should.

The last routine maintenance was undertaken in September 2020, where technicians at PIE Performance in Suffolk carried out a major service, also fitting a new head unit and speakers. Prior to this, technicians at PIE Performance fitted new PMO carburettors, adjustable drop links, a new floor plate, fresh carpets, a roll cage, rear anti-roll bar equipment and a front strut brace through 2017.

The most recent MOT test was on 7 May 2020 at 14,539 miles, which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories or defects. All four wheels are fitted with Toyo Proxes T1R tyres, which appear to be around 10 years old but still have ample tread.

Accompanying the vehicle are the original books, along with recent maintenance invoices and a copy of the 911 & Porsche World magazine in which the car was featured.

This Porsche 911 is an appealing ‘backdate’ car, which represents a great entry point to Carrera RS replica ownership. While it can be driven and enjoyed as-is, it could also form the basis for a more substantial custom build, adding more period-correct elements if the next owner so desires.
