1980 AUSTIN MORRIS MINI VAN

This Austin Morris Mini 95 Van is a fully restored and subtly upgraded example of a classic British icon, which is in genuinely superb condition throughout. It is powered by a 998cc A-series inline-four, fed by twin carburettors, coupled to a four-speed manual transmission. The odometer indicates 59,408 miles.

First registered on 1 February 1980, there are five previous keepers on the log book, and the vendor acquired the van last year. A colour change from blue to green was recorded in 2016.

Its bodywork and paint are in excellent condition, with no known prior damage. The vendor is aware that the back doors were replaced as part of the restoration, and the main body was subsequently refinished in a stunning hue of British Racing Green. Its roof was painted in a contrasting white, while gloss black wheel arch extensions were also fitted. There are sliding front windows, and tan leather bonnet straps adding to the subtly modified vibe. It rides on 12-inch four-spoke Revolution alloy wheels, which are in great shape.

Inside, the original seats have been swapped to later half-leather Mini Cooper items, which are in very good condition, showing only slight creasing on the bolsters and some fading of the cloth centre panels. There are black carpets and floor mats, the latter with green binding, as well as Securon four-point seatbelts, an original and aged Moto-Lita steering wheel, and an aluminium billet Cooper gear knob. At the rear, the load bay is very clean and tidy, and the floor is fully carpeted.

As part of the restoration, the engine was evidently overhauled and upgraded, and it now features a Fletcher alloy radiator and modern silicone cooling hoses. It is reported to be in excellent mechanical condition, and has been carefully stored in a heated garage during the vendor’s ownership.

Now exempt from mandatory MOT testing on the basis of age, the last annual check was carried out on 18 September 2019 at an indicated 58,908 miles, which resulted in a first-time pass with only one advisory regarding slight play in the nearside front track rod end ball joint. The wheels are fitted with Yokohama A539 tyres, which were fitted as part of the restoration and remain in virtually as-new condition.

This Austin Morris Mini 95 is a uniquely finished example of the classic compact van, which has been treated to an extensive restoration and now presents beautifully. The vendor describes it as a real head turner, and this practical Mini is ready to be put into service as a reliable runabout or even as a fun commercial vehicle for a small business.
