EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

• Riding on its recently refurbished ‘Baroque’ alloys (known more commonly as ‘Mexican Hat’ wheels), the car comes with a blue vinyl and grey cloth interior extending to the door cards, power steering, electric windows and a wood veneer centre console.
• The cabin has been fitted with a modern aftermarket Sony stereo head unit, but otherwise there are no known modifications or upgrades.
• Included in the sale is the original hard top, service book, various MOT certificates back to 1984, and numerous receipts dating to when the car was new. 

CONDITION

• There is no known bodywork damage, having been carefully restored in 2018.
• The resprayed paintwork is in excellent condition, presenting with a high shine. Only a few blemishes are apparent, including on the boot lid, under the hard top and above the passenger side door handle.
• The soft top and mechanism is in good condition, showing only minor marks commensurate with the age of the vehicle. The hard top is in great shape, with a deep shine to the colour-coordinated paint and brightwork.
• Moving inside, the original vinyl and cloth interior presents very well, save for a small crack in the dashboard and some minor blemishes in the wood trim lacquer.
• The alloy wheels have recently been fully refurbished.
• The instrument cluster was replaced in 2013. At the time, this car had covered 106,000 miles, and the new unit odometer showed 82,000 miles. Now standing at 92,224 miles, the correct mileage from new is therefore circa 116,000 miles.
• The rear plastic windows have recently been replaced.
• There are no known mechanical or electrical faults.
• The most recent MOT test was in March 2021 at an indicated 92,106 miles, resulting in a clean, first-time pass. Due to the vehicle’s age, it is exempt from mandatory MOT testing.

SERVICE HISTORY

• The car was last serviced in May 2021, when the engine oil and filter, spark plugs and front shock absorbers were renewed.  
• The owner states that the car’s service book has been stamped up to 105,000 miles.
• The car’s full exhaust system has also been replaced during the current keeper’s ownership.

SUMMARY

This is a handsome example of the 1979 Mercedes-Benz 350 SL, which has been sympathetically restored, offered today as a very well-presented example of a sought-after model in sound mechanical order. An elegant and well-built convertible, this R107 would make an excellent weekend cruiser and a charming addition to any assembly of classics.
