1979 ALFA ROMEO ALFETTA GTV 2000 TURBODELTA

This Alfa Romeo Alfetta GTV 2000 Turbodelta is a rare homologation special, which remains highly original and presents in very good condition throughout. It is powered by a 2.0-litre inline-four, equipped with a KKK turbocharger to produce up to 150hp, driving the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission. The odometer indicates 51,096 km, which corresponds to the look and feel of the car.

A lesser-seen rally-inspired special edition, the GTV Turbodelta was developed to satisfy the homologation requirements for Group 4 competition, with Autodelta producing just 400 examples using the turbocharged 2.0-litre engine. It was also equipped with Dell’Orto 40H carburettor, and today remains one of the rarest GTVs.

First registered in May 1979, this particular Alfetta GTV is believed to have never been raced or rallied, which has helped to preserve its features and condition. The car is currently on a German registration.

The wheel arches have previously been repaired or replaced more than eight years ago and show no signs of wear, and the car has been repainted in part or whole in the past, in the original Rosso Alfa hue. Otherwise, the bodywork is thought to be original, and it has good shut lines and panel gaps. Its paint finish is generally good, though does have some marks and blemishes commensurate with the age and mileage. The correct multi-coloured Turbodelta stripes are also present down each flank, as well as the black painted bonnet. It rides on 14-inch Campagnolo turbine alloy wheels, which are in very good order.

Stepping inside, this Alfa Romeo presents as a highly original car and still looks excellent for its age. The grey cloth upholstery shows some light wear, but no rips or other major damage, and the lower sides of the door cards have previously been renewed. Ahead of the driver, the three-spoke steering wheel and dashboard appear to be entirely original, and the latter has only some minor wear and tear. The wood inlays add a touch of class, and have just a few marks and scratches in places. There are no known faults with any of the controls or switches.

Its last routine maintenance was in May 2020 at 50,500 km, carried out by Formula GT, when the fluids and filters were changed, the brakes were serviced and fitted with new front callipers and pads, and the spark plugs were replaced. Four new Hankook tyres were also installed.

The most recent roadworthiness check was carried out in February 2020, which resulted in no faults or warnings being noted, and the certificate is valid until February 2022.

This Alfa Romeo Alfetta GTV 2000 Turbodelta is an exciting classic performance car, built to homologate the model for Group 4 competition, and accordingly offering a genuine step up from the standard GTV. Of the 400 built, far fewer still survive, and even fewer remain in their factory style trim, rather than having been stripped out and turned into full-blooded racers. This represents a rare opportunity to acquire a highly original car that is sure to delight its next owner.
