• The 1978 Corvette Indianapolis Pace Car Replica featured a desirable two-tone colour scheme of black over silver metallic, with a red pinstripe in between.
• It also featured a new front and rear spoiler in the ‘Trans Am’ style.
• The model was offered to customers as the ‘RPO Z78’ option package, and all examples came with new glass T-tops, alloy wheels, electric windows, a rear window de-mister, air conditioning, sports mirrors, a telescopic steering wheel, an upgraded battery, an AM/FM stereo and central locking.
• This example has the ‘winged wheel’ Indianapolis Speedway logos on the rear wings and door emblems which read ‘Official Pace Car, 62nd Annual Indianapolis 500 Mile Race, May 28, 1978.’
• It was evidently specified with the full silver leather upholstery, over the thinner and more supportive seat frames.
• An owner’s manual and sales brochure will be included, along with various MOT certificates and tax documents.

CONDITION

• There is no known bodywork damage.
• Its two-tone paintwork is in good condition, now presenting with a few stone chips on the front bumper, bonnet and wing mirrors, and the red pinstripe has been broken on the front end.
• Inside, the leather-trimmed seat bases are slightly discoloured, and small marks can be seen on the seat backs and rest of the trim in places.
• The door card stitching near the door shuts appears to have come slightly loose, and there is some wear to the window trims.
• No electrical faults have been detected.
• The most recent MOT test was on 4 February 2021 at 52,793 miles, which resulted in a pass with no advisories, after an offside front brake hose and a steering linkage ball were replaced.
• It has largely been in storage over the last few years, so would benefit from a fresh service.
