This 1977 Volkswagen T2 Kombi is a classic passenger van that stands out from the crowd with a stunning custom interior, overhauled mechanicals and excellent bodywork. A refurbished 1570cc naturally aspirated air-cooled flat-four provides the power, with a four-speed manual gearbox transmitting it to the rear wheels. The odometer shows approximately 128,000km.

Built in West Germany in 1977, this left-hand drive Volkswagen Type 2 Kombi was later exported to the UK – where it spent nearly 30 years – and has recently been imported to Australia, where it has been with its current owner for the past two years. Presented in very good condition with classic two-tone paint and refurbished mechanicals; it also boasts a lovingly re-trimmed interior. With its current Queensland registration, this is a vehicle that would suit anyone wanting to hit the road immediately; either for a weekend of luxury or a road trip of a lifetime.

The exterior of the Volkswagen presents in generally excellent condition for its age, having undergone a previous respray. Finished in a Neptune Blue and White colour scheme, the two-tone paint further highlights the classic lines of the vehicle, and has only minor imperfections that are shown in the photo gallery. The badges and trims are in very good condition and all of the exterior seals, including the door seals, have been replaced. The owner reports there to be a small dent on the front panel, a scratch on the left rear, and minor damage to the front and rear bumpers.

The interior of the vehicle is an absolute highlight and has been re-trimmed and fitted out to a high standard. The white upholstery and varnished timber flooring are complemented by the charming colour-coded curtains that add an element of privacy to this well-appointed setting. A rock and roll bed, LED lighting and plenty of storage offer impressive versatility. A neat Bluetooth stereo installation, 12-volt outlets, and wooden three-spoke steering wheel are just some of the more contemporary accessories fitted. The owner reports just a small patch of discolouration on the rear seat that could be seen to by a professional detailer.

Lifting the rear lid shows off a very clean compartment that houses the reconditioned 1570cc engine. The work was completed with new seals and gaskets, a new starter motor and alternator, a new fuel pump and carburettor. A new battery tray has been fitted and there is the addition of a second battery for the interior functions. Additional mechanical work includes new front and rear wheel bearings, and new shock absorbers. The owner informs us the vehicle is accompanied by a large collection of receipts for works carried out and a Haynes manual.

The vehicle was most recently serviced on 8 October 2020 at Queensland's Custom Vee Dub. Here the engine was fitted with new spark plugs, a rocker cover gasket, points set, fuel hose and filter, and was given a full oil change. Six months prior, a mechanical inspection required only a headlamp bulb to be replaced. The vehicle underwent a technical inspection in October 2020, which resulted in no warnings or alerts being issued. The owner reports that the whitewall tyres were fitted two years ago and still have excellent tread depth.

This Volkswagen Type 2 Kombi is a superb example of a motoring icon, and it benefits from a classic exterior finish, mechanical refurbishment, and an interior that is both luxurious and practical. The striking Neptune Blue and White colour scheme make this a real head-turner, with a refurbished engine for extra peace of mind when on the road. A fun weekender for picnics and days at the beach, or for those wanting to take on the vast open roads for the ultimate adventure, this Kombi is ready to be enjoyed.
