EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

• This Mk1 GTI is a very early and original black steel bumper model.
• Setting the template for modern hot hatches, the original Golf GTI combined a more powerful engine with a deeper front spoiler, black plastic wheel arch extensions, a black frame around the rear windscreen, and the iconic ‘golf ball’ dimpled gear knob, creating a family car with a defined sporting edge.
• The car’s features include a period-correct Blaupunkt radio, and a full Gillet exhaust.
• As part of the refurbishment, it was fitted with numerous new parts, including refurbished and correct 15-inch ‘ATS Cup’ alloy wheels, H&R front stabiliser, Eibach 30mm springs, and Koni shock absorbers. 
• Further restoration has included respraying the paintwork and retrimming the seats.
• All original parts are included in the sale, as well as the owner’s book back, service history, papers from the Technical Advisory Council, and a CD documenting the restoration process.

CONDITION

• The car has no known bodywork damage.
• The silver metallic paintwork is in pristine condition, presenting with a high shine.
• The cloth interior is also in excellent order after being sympathetically restored using factory-specification materials, with only a minor blemish on the passenger’s side of the dashboard
• It is in sound electrical and mechanical order, with no known faults.

SERVICE HISTORY

• The car was most recently serviced in September 2021, when the engine oil, filter and brake fluid were replaced.
• Prior to this, the car was serviced in 2020 and 2019.
• The cam belt was replaced in 2016.
