• A superb bespoke open-top performance car, known as the world’s fastest Alfa Spider, and now featuring new or refurbished parts throughout.
  • Powered by an uprated and fuel-injected Alfaholics 2.0-litre twinspark engine, producing 216bhp, coupled to a six-speed sequential gearbox sending power to the rear wheels.
  • Restoration and upgrade work was completed by Alfaholics, using the highest quality parts, including for the engine, brakes and suspension setup.
  • Built for an Alfaholics client who had thoroughly enjoyed their own S2 Spider, this trackday-focused car is based upon the mechanicals of the GTA-R.

  • The build is based upon an original right-hand drive UK-sourced Alfa Romeo Spyder S2, which was first registered in 1977.
  • Stiffening the chassis and lowering the floors were two of the biggest challenges taken on by Alfaholics in the build process. The car was equipped with a T45 ultra-lightweight custom cage, all installed below the car’s waistline, and tied into main tubing running the length of the floors inside the sill structures. The shell was fitted with lowered and ribbed floor pans, enabling racing seats to be fitted at the proper height for circuit driving.
  • Its 2.0-litre twinspark engine has received a nut-and-bolt engine rebuild featuring a big valve head with race valve gear, billet rifle-drilled cams, billet H-section con-rods and forged coated pistons and new liners. It is now fitted with an Alfaholics programmable throttle body fuel injection system, and an aluminium, foam-filled 55-litre fuel tank.
  • An Alfaholics race paddle clutch kit is fitted and has been set up on a rolling road.
  • Its high-quality GTA-R suspension package includes Alfaholics extreme lightweight suspension trailing arms, wishbones, and race aluminium T-Bar; aluminium adjustable shock absorbers, adjustable camber arms with revised bushings, and a six-pot brake kit for enhanced stopping power.
  • The car also features a number of bespoke parts created by Alfaholics, including a bespoke GTA-style grille and door grab handles – designed by Alfaholics from scratch and milled from billet aluminium before being polished to a high shine.
  • Inside, it is fitted with very smart quilted Ruby leather bucket seats. The rear section is trimmed to match, but the front seat harnesses currently prevent them from being used.
  • The doors are also trimmed in quilted Ruby leather and topped in Alcantara, which extends across the majority of the car’s dashboard.
  • The owner has upgraded the car’s dashboard dials to a Race Technology Digital Dash.
  • The car is accompanied by a description of the restoration and all maintenance invoices from the restoration itself, a full annual service history since the rebuild and some original documentation from the donor car.

  • There is no known bodywork damage. The car’s shell was restored on a jig during the restoration.
  • The Bianco Nuvola paintwork is in excellent condition, as shown in the gallery below.
  • Inside, the owner reports some minor wear to the driver’s seat bolster, but otherwise the seats and interior panels show no significant signs of use.
  • The vendor reports that there are no mechanical issues or electrical faults.
  • The most recent MOT test took place on 14 May 2018 at 4,898 miles, resulting in a pass with an advisory for an oil leak. The car will be put through a fresh MOT test before handover to the next keeper.

  • The latest service was carried out during July 2021 by Analogue Automotive Ltd. The work comprised of an engine oil and filter change, a coolant change and the replacement of the hydraulic fluids.
  • Prior to this, the car was serviced annually while in dry storage for three years.

A very fast road and track version of Alfa Romeo’s beautiful Spider S2, the Alfaholics Spider-R features tried-and-tested mechanical upgrades, which are largely shared with the acclaimed GTA-R. There are numerous other Alfaholics upgrades, which make it a capable companion for spirited weekend drives or circuit work alike. It presents in excellent cosmetic and mechanical order, and is now ready for the next owner to thoroughly enjoy on the open road or the track.
