1976 TRIUMPH STAG MKII 3.0 V8

KEY FACTS

  • Thought to be the last Stag to be registered in the UK, this charming convertible features an attractive Tahiti Blue finish and tan leather upholstery.
  • It is powered by the 3.0-litre Triumph V8, coupled with the four-speed manual transmission with overdrive.
  • It has won several Concours d’Elegance events and benefits from an extensive service history, now presenting in original condition and with just two keepers on the logbook.
  • The vendor acquired the car in April 1989.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

  • The MKII variant is identifiable by twin coachlines, coloured sills and a revised instrument dial.
  • Standard equipment included electric windows, power steering and power-assisted brakes.
  • Accompanying the vehicle are its British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, evidence of a comprehensive service history, Haynes manual, and correspondence from the Stag Owner’s Club, which suggests that it was the final example to be registered in the UK.
  • Also included are 10 trophies that the vendor won at various Stag Owners Club concours events, plus an indoor and outdoor suitable car cover with straps.

CONDITION

  • No known bodywork damage.
  • Its original Tahiti Blue paintwork is in excellent condition, with just a few minor imperfections. One small blemish can be seen on the edge of the driver’s door, along with a few surface marks to the underside of the bumpers.
  • A scratch can be seen above the nearside front bumper trim, alongside one stone chip to the bonnet, above the nearside headlamp.
  • Inside, its tan leather upholstery is in great shape, with just a few light creases.
  • There are no known electrical faults.
  • The most recent MOT test was on 9 March 2017 at 27,499 miles, which was a first-time pass with no advisories or defects. It is exempt from mandatory testing on the basis of age.

SERVICE HISTORY

  • Its most recent service was in May 2021 at 27,918 miles, where technicians at Fairway Services in Rugeley changed the engine oil, filter, and spark plugs, before replacing the exhaust rubbers, rear wheel cylinders, track rod ends, both rear brake pipes and the centre brake pipe.
