This 1976 Citroën 2CV AK 400 Fourgonnette is a superb classic commercial vehicle, presented in outstanding condition following a recent total restoration. A mid-1970s model, it benefits from the 602cc engine from the Ami 6, as well as the increased payload capacity of 400kg. It has been in regular service over the last few years as a marketing vehicle, and is ready to continue being driven frequently, or would also make a striking addition to any Citroën collection.

Following the debut of the original 2CV Fourgonnette in 1951, the model evolved over subsequent decades with larger and more powerful engines, as well as revisions to the bodywork and trim. This particular ‘AK 400’ example features the higher roofline that was introduced in 1970 to accommodate larger loads, as well as the rectangular headlights and plastic grille as fitted to the saloons. The previous owner used this vehicle as a roving marketing vehicle, clocking up some 20,000 km in regular service. The vendor acquired it in October 2018.

This van was completely restored five years ago in Udine, Italy, and as you would expect the bright blue paintwork is still in pristine condition. The exterior trim and seals are all also in superb order. Door shuts, wheel arches and the underside are in great condition, as shown by the photos. Provenance has been kept where possible - for example, by leaving minor pitting in the load bay metalwork without hiding it with filler. The ‘Gitanes’ livery is a recent addition overlaid on the paint, and can easily be removed if the next owner desires.

Inside, the interior trim is in superb condition with fantastic period details. Again, wherever possible the originality has been retained. The load bay is clean and rust-free, finished in the same blue as the exterior. The odometer currently reads 1127 km, although this is not the mileage from new.

The engine bay of this Citroën 2CV is pristine. While the engine was refreshed, it was in superb condition prior to the restoration so was not fully rebuilt. The carburettor, dynamo and starter motor had all been refurbished. During the restoration, the brakes and suspension were all taken apart and fully rebuilt. Overall, the van is in excellent mechanical condition.

This Citroën 2CV Fourgonnette is a charming classic van, accompanied by Italian history and title documents. The subject of a recent total cosmetic and mechanical restoration, and still in absolutely outstanding condition. It is ready to be used as practical transport if desired, or as a delightful addition to any collection of historic Citroëns or other French motor cars.
