1975 ROLLS-ROYCE PHANTOM VI

This 1975 Rolls-Royce Phantom VI is a rare limousine, with Mulliner Park Ward coachwork and an attractive two-tone colour scheme. As an early model, it is equipped with the 6.2-litre V8, coupled with a smooth four-speed automatic transmission. The odometer currently indicates 32,575 miles, though this is not warranted.

The model was perhaps most recognisable for its role as the Queen’s official state car, prior to the introduction of the Bentley Limousines in 2002. It also found fans among a raft of pop stars, politicians, and foreign heads of state. With the exception of the Phantom IV (of which just 18 were built) the VI is the rarest Phantom – only 374 examples were produced over a 22-year period.

First registered in May 1975, this car was in the hands of its most recent keeper for five years, and is now offered by sale by the trade. While HPI data indicates that the car was exported in 2014, it remains on UK number plates, and the seller states that VAT was never reclaimed on the vehicle. They understand the car can be brought back to the UK with no import charges whatsoever. Furthermore, the seller will cover the costs of any such charges should they arise.

The elegant bodywork of this Phantom is all in excellent shape, and the two-tone burgundy and black finish features a polished shine. The vendor has reported some slight swirl marks in the paintwork, while some small stone chips can be seen on the front end, lower wheel arches and chrome grille surround. The Spirit of Ecstasy presents with a few surface blemishes on its base, while some light scratches are visible on the chrome wing mirrors and wheels. Overall, it presents very well, with smart gold coach lines down each flank.

Inside, the beige leather upholstery is described as being in fair condition, though the seat upholstery appears to be in very good order. The front seats have sustained some more noticeable wear and discolouration over the years, though a re-connolising treatment would no doubt make a significant improvement. The leather-clad door cards and lower dashboard elements are also slightly discoloured, though the walnut veneers all appear to be in excellent condition. The switchgear shows very minor wear, but all of the electrics are believed to work as they should.

Accompanying the vehicle are the original bill of sale, as well as the latest V5C document. It is understood to have been maintained by various independent Rolls-Royce specialists over the last few decades, in both the UK and more recently in the south of France.
