1975 FIAT 500 JOLLY EVOCATION

KEY FACTS

• An eye-catching classic Italian run-around, which is fresh from a full restoration and conversion to ‘Jolly’ beach car style.
• Based on an R or ‘Rinnovata’ model, it is powered by the larger 594cc engine developed by Abarth, and driven through the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission with synchromesh.
• During the conversion to Jolly specification, its mechanicals were completely overhauled in May 2021 with an original equipment 500 R engine.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

• While it left the factory in 500 R specification, this ‘Cinquecento’ has been transformed into an evocation of the famous ‘Jolly’ beach car by Ghia. The genuine 500 Jolly cars were used as transport around marinas, for patrons of luxury hotels, ferrying guests from their yachts to their accommodation.
• The vendor states that this particular example is a ‘Dolce Estate Italiana’ edition, created in homage to the Amalfi Coast lifestyle of the 1960s.
• It was crafted by an Italian workshop specialising in classic car restoration and fabrication.
• The exterior has been fitted with slim tubular bumpers finished in black. The same finish is also applied to the roof frame and side guards.
• The interior has been finished in the correct style with woven front and rear seat panels made by Amalfi craftsmen. As with the original Jolly cars, there are cutaway sections rather than doors, with simple rope fixtures for safety.
• There is tailored rubber flooring throughout.

CONDITION

• There is no known prior bodywork damage. Its shell has been cut and modified as part of the conversion, as shown in the photo gallery.
• Its yellow paintwork is in superb order, having been freshly applied as part of its refurbishment and custom build.
• The interior has been stripped back, retaining just the seat frames, dashboard gauges, switches and steering wheel; and the new woven seat covers are in excellent condition.
• There are no mechanical or electrical faults.
• Having been fully mechanically overhauled in May 2021 with an original equipment 500 R engine, this car has required no further maintenance since then.
