1974 TRIUMPH TRIDENT F750 - SLIPPERY SAM

KEY FACTS 

• A beautifully crafted tribute to the famous ‘Slippery Sam’ Triumph race bike. 
• It is powered by a 750cc three-cylinder engine, mated to a five-speed transmission. 
• This Triumph Trident F750 has covered just 3 kilometres since its completion and remains unregistered. 
• This faithful reproduction was built by Jerry Leggitt over the course of three years, and was overseen by the original builder, Les Williams.  

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES 

• Triumph’s ‘Slippery Sam’ was a remarkably successful 1970s-era race bike that won five consecutive TT races at the Isle of Man and managed to finish the 1970 Bol d’Or 24-hour race despite engine issues causing oil to escape the engine – hence the bike’s nickname. 
• Whilst the original was destroyed in a fire, this reproduction was built over the course of three years and features a modified stock frame that positions the engine higher as well as a faithful replica of the original fuel tank. 
• It is finished in white and is fitted with the correct decals and racing livery, including ‘Slippery Sam’ text on the rear cowl.  
• The selling dealer notes that the bike can be correctly road-registered in Australia.  

CONDITION 

• There is no bodywork or frame damage, and no faults have been detected. 
• The condition of the original paintwork is described as excellent, with only a couple of small marks on the left-hand side cowl. 

SERVICE HISTORY 

• This Trident was treated to a full service in January 2022, which was performed by Motociclo Garage in Sydney. 
• The selling dealer reports that services were carried out every two years by Motociclo. 
• During its current ownership, the battery has been changed, the fluids have been flushed, and new tyres have been fitted.

This Triumph Trident F750 is a stunning homage to the famous ‘Slippery Sam’ race machine of the 1970s, which overcame mechanical issues to finish one race and went on to win five consecutive TT titles.
