EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

• This Series III features Pastel Green paintwork, black leatherette upholstery, a beige canvas roof and a stainless steel exhaust.
• It rides on a new galvanised Richards chassis, GME leaf springs and a set of 16-inch steel rims, which have been powder-coated in the period-correct shade of Limestone Cream and fitted with Avon Rangemaster tyres.
• Its original sales brochure and spare key will be included, along with a matching spare wheel and a detailed history file comprising MOT certificates, maintenance receipts and a raft of restoration photographs.

CONDITION

• A few small dents have been reported in the rear tub, but the bodywork is in generally superb order. The bulkhead has been fully rebuilt, while new panels include genuine new-old-stock Land Rover front wings, along with new doors, door tops, rear quarter panels, seat box ends, front and rear floors, tub crossmembers, sills and a new tailgate. The windscreen frame, along with all steel capping, has been re-galvanised.
• The body was stripped back to its bare metal, before being primed and resprayed with digitally matched Pastel Green paintwork.
• Some very light wear can be seen on the galvanised items and front Land Rover badging.
• Inside, the black vinyl seats have recently been replaced and the dashboard top has been re-trimmed. Both are now in great shape. Some minor surface marks can be seen on the original dashboard plastics and dials.
• The sand coloured canvas hood and galvanised roof stick set are new items.
• No electrical issues have been detected.
• The most recent MOT test was on 14 August 2021 at 85,528 miles, which was a clean pass with no advisories or defects.

SERVICE HISTORY

• During the restoration process, every mechanical item was reportedly refurbished or replaced, using genuine Land Rover parts where possible.
• The period-correct 3 main bearing 901 engine has been fully rebuilt with new pistons, bearings, gaskets, valves, fuel lines, hoses, HT leads, coil and a Weber carburettor, while the block has been re-bored and the head has been skimmed. All engine components were sourced from Land Rover engine specialist Turner Engineering. It is now linked to a stainless steel exhaust.
• The gearbox and transfer case were rebuilt by a Land Rover transmission specialist using genuine parts, now also featuring a new clutch, with new master and slave cylinders.
• Both the front and rear axles were rebuilt, along with the steering box and brakes, while the propshaft U-joints were replaced with GKN items and an Autosparks wiring loom was installed.

SUMMARY

This Land Rover Series III 88” is a superb example of the rugged classic 4x4, with a charming Pastel Green finish and a smart interior. It has covered just 200 miles since a comprehensive restoration, and is now ready to enjoy on or off the road, or to preserve with sparing use as part of a collection.
