  • First registered in the USA, this 911 was shipped to the UK in early 2011, but was not officially re-registered until May 2021.
  • It has been under the care of its current owner for the last 10 years, and has covered just 38 miles since the completion of the restoration process in 2018.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

  • This 911 rides on restored 15-inch Fuchs alloy wheels, date-stamped to August 1972, and shod all round with new Pirelli P6000 tyres.
  • It is finished in period-correct Sepia Brown over brown upholstery, complete with genuine Porsche carpet rails, threshold trims and headlining, as well as a new dash top and door pockets supplied by Carpoint of Germany.
  • The car still sports its original Blaupunkt Frankfurt radio with Hirschmann antenna, both of which have been restored and re-fitted.
  • Following the restoration process, the current owner ensured that all stickers and decals were correctly sourced and fitted as per the factory-fresh 1973 911 E, including engine bay labels and engine component decals, as well as the indicator and windscreen washer decals.
  • Included in the sale is a period-correct owner’s manual, Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, factory-supplied Bilstein jack, toolkit, spare wheel, and a USB stick containing approximately 1,000 photos of the extensive restoration project.

CONDITION

  • This 911 has undergone a full body restoration over the course of four years, beginning in 2014. This restoration was carried out by renowned restorer Lee Peacock of Autoclassica.
  • The owner states that the original body shell was found to be in good overall condition, and this was completely stripped and media blasted. Repairs to the outer floor perimeter and a new rear parcel shelf were made, along with repairs to the lower rear seat base. New inner and outer sill panels, including jacking points and supports, were fitted, as well as new kidney bowls and a new left-hand rear outer quarter panel, along with the front cross panel support rail and tank support panel.
  • The bodywork was primed and sealed with Glasurit epoxy primer, and the underbody was finished with Würth stone guard as per the factory finish. A topcoat, finished in Sepia Brown (5454) with Glasurit 55-line base coat and Glasurit clear coat, was then applied.
  • The door and rear quarter window frames have been stripped, polished, and anodised by leading specialist Nick Moss of Early 911. All four indicator units have been stripped and restored, as well as the original black anodised engine grille.
  • Four new indicator lenses have been fitted, as well two new H4 headlights, new ‘S-type’ sill covers and end caps, a genuine Porsche hood badge, and a new front windscreen with a genuine Porsche rubber seal and aluminium trim. The original rear screen has also been fitted with a genuine Porsche rubber seal and aluminium trim, and the original Sekurit tinted glass has been polished and re-fitted.
  • The Sepia Brown paintwork now presents superbly, displaying a high shine with no significant stone chips or blemishes.
  • Moving inside, the reupholstered brown seat covers and other trim is very smart indeed, with only some very modest age-related wear on the gear knob. The steering wheel was restored, retaining its original date stamp, and the dash instruments were restored by North Hollywood Speedometer of California, retaining the original date stamps as well as the original mileage.
  • The car is in excellent working order, with no mechanical or electrical faults, having covered just 38 miles since the completion of the restoration process.
  • Due to the age of the vehicle, it is exempt from mandatory MOT testing.

SERVICE HISTORY

  • The car’s last routine maintenance was performed in September 2021 at 55,025 miles by Porsche specialist RSR Developments, who refreshed the brake fluid, engine oil and filter, and carried out a tune-up.
  • Prior to this, the car was serviced on completion of its restoration in 2018.
  • A complete rebuild of the matching-numbers engine was performed by Andy Wexham of RSR Developments, with the machine work carried by Nick Fulljames of Redtek. This included a chemical clean, oil bypass modification, line hone, barrel decks and crank polish to the original standard specifications. The crankcase was then shuffle pinned, and new case-savers were fitted.
  • The engine rebuild also included the installation of new 84.5mm Wossner pistons for additional power, and a later SC 4 rib oil pump. A new hydraulic chain tensioner update kit was fitted along with new stainless-steel heat exchangers. The original engine fan and housing was chromated by BS Motorsport as per the original factory finish. The engine tinware was then restored and powder-coated by Yorvik Engineering of York.
  • The 915 manual gearbox – which is believed to be original to the car – was completely rebuilt, and a new clutch was installed.
  • A new starter motor was fitted, and the original CDI unit was restored. The original alternator was restored by Lenton & Smithson of Harrogate.
  • The MFI pump was restored by Tower Bridge Diesels, and a new genuine Porsche fuel pump, Bosch MFI injectors, and fuel lines were fitted.
  • A new fuel tank has been fitted, primed and stone-guarded to the correct factory finish.
  • The front and rear suspension has been restored and powder-coated by Yorvik Engineering of York. New front and rear Koni shock absorbers were fitted as per the original COA.
  • The original front ‘S-type’ aluminium brake callipers were restored by Autoclassica, as well as the original rear steel brake callipers.
  • A complete restoration of the pedal box, including new bronze bushes, was performed.
  • All the hardware was chemically stripped and polished before being zinc-plated by Allenchrome Electroplating of York.
