CONDITION
- Between January 2010 and February 2012, this Carrera 2.7 RS was put through an exhaustive restoration process, at a total cost of around £90,000. The car was taken back to bare metal, any necessary repairs were carried out to the highest standards, new bumpers were fitted, rust-prevention treatments were applied to the shell, and it was repainted in the correct Aubergine hue.
- The mechanical restoration took place in 2011 at JAZ Porsche, with a full strip down and vapour blasting of the engine and ancillaries. The cylinder heads were sent off to have new valve guides and seats, and the throttle bodies were stripped and re-plated. The gearbox was also rebuilt, replacing any worn parts.
- Around £25,000 has been spent on the car since it joined The Leonard Collection, with the aim of attending to fine details to create the perfect period-correct RS.
- Today, the paintwork remains in generally excellent condition, with only around 2,600 miles covered since the restoration was finished.
- Its re-trimmed interior is in great condition, with a very smart finish to the leatherette and corduroy seat upholstery in particular.
- There are no known mechanical or electrical faults.
- The most recent MOT test was on 10 September 2020 at 73,278 miles, which was a first-time pass with no advisories whatsoever. It has achieved the same clean result over the last 10 years, covering some 3,000 miles on the road.
