• A US-market 1972 example, it is powered by a carburetted 2.5-litre engine, and rides on a set of 15-inch gold-painted steel wheels with chromed surrounds.
• Lightly modified, it features a sonorous ‘straight-through’ stainless steel exhaust system, aftermarket seats and a wood-rimmed Moto-Lita steering wheel, as well as a more modern Goodmans radio/cassette player.
• The car will be accompanied by a detailed history file including 30 years of receipts and MOT test certificates, as well as a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate detailing its production date and specification.

CONDITION

• There is no substantial bodywork damage, and only one very small dent on the bonnet.
• It is not known whether the Sapphire Blue paintwork has been refinished, but it is in fair overall condition, with light scratches around the car, small blisters on the offside front wing and a cluster of larger scratches on the rear edge of the driver’s door.
• The black convertible soft top has recently been replaced, and is unmarked.
• Inside, the cabin presents well given the car’s age, and while the seats are not believed to be original they are free of any rips, tears or substantial wear.
• The interior trim is also in good order, with a few minor marks on the door cards and switchgear, as well as chips on the edge of the heater control surround and cracks on the wood-trimmed dashboard.
• There are no known electrical or mechanical faults.
• While it is exempt due to its age, the car’s last MOT test was conducted on 13 October 2020 at an indicated 34,943 miles, resulting in a first-time pass without a single warning or advisory.

SUMMARY

This 1972 Triumph TR6 is a good, dependable example of the marque’s best-selling sports car, which features a solid chassis and underside, and is presented in a charming period hue. A US-market example which has since been converted to right-hand drive, this TR6 will make a fine companion for sunny weekend jaunts, and while it would benefit from some cosmetic ‘smartening up’, it is ready to drive and enjoy immediately.
