EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

• Formed in the 1960s, Autohaus Rudolf Kühn KG specialised in upgrading and modifying the VW Beetle, with its first product being an American-style ‘beach buggy’ that had passed the strict TÜV approval process.
• The company would later become known as Hamburger Auto Zubehör (HAZ), which led to its modifications getting the ‘Haz’ or ‘Hazard’ moniker.
• This particular Beetle has been modified with a 100hp+ 2.1-litre Limbach engine – which was based on the original VW flat-four – with Scat camshafts and crankshafts, linked to a stainless steel exhaust with a remote controlled stinger.
• Limbach engines are made to the highest industrial quality standards, built to deliver the best combination of durability, performance and reliability; hardly surprising as they are produced as aircraft engines and need to be within tight engineering tolerances.
• It has been fitted with sport suspension with reinforced wheel bearings, and has four original drum brakes.
• The exterior features aluminium running boards, bespoke bumpers, additional high beam lamps and a stainless steel registration plate holder.
• The interior is equipped with VDO dials, a Raid four-spoke wood-trimmed steering wheel, a Mexico GT driver’s seat, Kenwood stereo, Magnat speakers and Hifonics amplifier, and a choice of three horns.
• Its original service book will be included, along with its German TÜV certificate, various maintenance invoices and a set of rubber mats for the cabin.

CONDITION

• No known bodywork damage, and the subfloor is reported to be in excellent condition, with no visible rust.
• Its resprayed Jaguar Blue paintwork is in fair shape, with some age-related stone chips on the bumper and bonnet.
• Some small paint bubbles can be seen on the wheel arches and door edges, along with some faint scratches under direct sunlight.
• Inside, the Mexico GT seat features just a few light creases, though the passenger seat has some light surface wear and a slightly collapsed base cushion.
• No electrical faults have been detected.
• The engine runs strongly and smoothly. The vendor also reports that the original gearbox shifts as precisely as a Beetle gearbox can do.

SERVICE HISTORY

• In April 2020, Manuel Braasch in Heidmühlen, Germany performed a comprehensive engine overhaul.
• The car has been serviced regularly since 2016.
