1971 FIAT ABARTH 595 RECREATION

KEY FACTS

  • A charming Abarth 595 Recreation, built on a 1971 Fiat 500L, which presents very well throughout and has covered only 100 miles since its rebuild.
  • It is powered by a modified 650cc engine, coupled to a four-speed manual transmission.
  • Reported to be in strong mechanical condition.
  • Delivered new overseas, it was imported to the UK and re-registered in 2015.

EQUIPMENT AND OPTIONS

  • Its rebuilt 650cc engine features a 3.5-litre sump, an Abarth camshaft and rocker cover, modified heads, larger valves and Dell’Orto carburettors, and was assembled by Middle Barton Garage in Bicester.
  • It rides on a set of Campagnolo ‘Lesmo’ style wheels, while the cabin features an OMP steering wheel.
  • There are engine strut brackets at the rear, to provide improved cooling if using the car on track in particular.

CONDITION

  • No known bodywork damage, and the fabric sunroof has just a few light surface blemishes.
  • Its resprayed red paintwork is in excellent condition, with silver racing stripes and the Ferrari logo parallel to the Fiat Abarth 595 badging, as a nod to the modern ‘Tributo’ versions. A few very minor blemishes can be seen around the front end, sills and wheel arches.
  • The black vinyl upholstery presents with a handsome patina, there is some light wear on the three-spoke OMP steering wheel, and a few scratches to the gear knob and handbrake lever.
  • No electrical faults have been detected.
  • The most recent MOT test was on 8 March 2017 at 65,361 miles, which was a clean pass with no advisories or defects. The vendor has said they will put it through a new MOT ready for handover to the next owner.

SUMMARY

This Fiat Abarth 595 Recreation is a fun upgraded classic, with a modified engine and some smart cosmetic enhancements. Having covered only 100 miles since its renovation, it is ready for immediate use as an eye-catching companion for exciting weekend drives.
