1971 FIAT 500L 'LUSSO'

This 1971 Fiat 500L ‘Lusso’ is a superb example of the marque’s classic city car, presented with a warm yellow finish and in excellent condition. It is equipped with the 499cc two-cylinder engine, coupled with a four-speed manual transmission. The odometer currently indicates 55,000 km, though its engine has been fully rebuilt.

The ‘Lusso’ was the better-equipped version of the 500, which featured a number of styling upgrades, as well as a redesigned dashboard. First registered in 1971, this ‘Cinquecento’ has been with its current keeper for two years, who notes the vehicle has been lovingly restored.

The bodywork of this 500 is in superb shape, and the condition of its glowing yellow finish has been described as excellent. The vehicle has been resprayed, and now presents in pristine condition, with no sign of any notable stone chips or scuffs. An attractive Fiat 500 luggage case has been affixed to the rear end, while the badging all presents very well. This 500L’s wheels present with some scratches on the centre caps, but are otherwise in very good condition.

Inside, the white leather upholstery is in excellent condition, and the seats present with minimal wear. They feature red and green pinstripes in the spirit of the Italian flag, as well as the ‘500’ logo embossed on to the back panels. The pinstripes continue up the passenger side of the dashboard, which is finished in yellow paintwork to match the exterior. This 500L’s trapezoid instrument panel and two-spoke steering wheel present as they should, and no electrical faults have been detected.

The last routine service is reported to have taken place in March 2021, while the car's tyres are reported to be as-new. With its engine having been fully rebuilt, it would benefit from some considerate ‘running in’ before using too enthusiastically.

This Fiat 500L ‘Lusso’ is a charming Italian classic, which has been well-restored and benefits from a significant mechanical overhaul. With a glowing yellow finish and stylish interior trim, this car would make a great addition to any collection, or a fun ‘first classic’.
