• The interior is in fair to poor condition. There is a small tear in the driver’s seat, and more notable damage to the passenger seat cover. The dashboard and door panel areas would also benefit from refurbishment to match the work done in the rear compartment in 2020, which included fitment of the rear bench seats, and respraying the load bay in Bronze Green to match the vehicle exterior.
• Faults reported by the vendor include the passenger side wiper motor not working, a temperamental fuel gauge and an inoperative lamp.
• Its last MOT test was on 12 June 2017 at 48,955 miles, when it achieved a first-time pass with only one advisory regarding a worn offside front tyre. It is exempt from mandatory testing on the basis of age.

SERVICE HISTORY

• The most recent service was carried out in May 2020. Work carried out included two new front tyres, engine oil and filter change, new spark plugs, new fuel filter, air filter service, gearbox service and lubrication of the propshafts. Non-mechanical work included new front grille bolts and wing mirror glass, a rear exhaust plate mount, and having the rear benches secured.

SUMMARY

Held in wide regard as one of the most durable of the ‘Series’ Land Rovers, the Series IIa is a capable and charming classic off-roader. Mechanically sound and benefiting from refurbishment to the bodywork and load bay, the car would benefit from restoration to the front of the cabin, but ultimately it is ready to drive and enjoy as-is.
