KEY FACTS

• A completely original and unrestored example of the CB750 K0, a ground-breaking Japanese classic.
• It is powered by a 736cc transverse inline-four, producing up to 67hp, coupled to a five-speed transmission.
• Originally delivered to the US, this bike has been in the current ownership for six years, though was only re-registered in the UK in June 2019.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

• The CB750 featured a single overhead camshaft inline-four engine, electric starter, and disc brakes; and it was dubbed “the most sophisticated production bike ever” at its launch by Cycle magazine.
• Seen by many as the world’s first superbike, the CB750 was introduced in 1969 to widespread praise, thanks to its reliability, performance and reasonable price.
• Finished in the original Candy Gold, it has a simple black seat, as well as plenty of chromework.
• There are no modifications; the bike remains entirely original.
• It is accompanied by the original tool kit, copy of original US title document, as well as all import and UK registration documentation.

CONDITION

• No damage to the frame or body.
• Its paintwork is described as being in excellent condition for its age. As it is the original 50-year-old factory paint, it does have some patina and slight fading, and the vendor notes that there are minor scratches to the rear right side of the fuel tank, plus minor chips on the lower front left side.
• The original vinyl seat has some modest wear commensurate with the low mileage, but again it remains in very impressive order for its age, still supple and with no rips or tears.
• All of the electrics work well, and there are no known faults.
• The bike is exempt from mandatory MOT testing.

SERVICE HISTORY

• Since arriving in the UK, the bike has been treated to a sympathetic mechanical overhaul while preserving the originality. The engine oil was changed with new 10W40 mineral oil, and a new OEM Honda filter was fitted. The carburettors were ultrasonically cleaned and adjusted with new Viton o-rings and float bowl seals, the fuel tank was flushed, and the fuel system was fitted with new Honda tap seals and Honda fuel lines.
• New Koyo rear wheel bearings were installed (x3), the clutch was adjusted, and the points were cleaned and the ignition timing set. Its cam chain tensioner was adjusted, and the valve clearances were also checked and adjusted.
• Its front brake system was overhauled with a new Honda piston caliper seal, the brake system was flushed and new DOT 5 brake fluid added. The rear brake drum was cleaned and checked, a new AGM battery was fitted, and new Continental RB2/K112 tyres were fitted on the front and rear with new inner tubes.

SUMMARY

It is very rare to find an original and unrestored Honda CB750 K0 in such good condition, not to mention one with such low mileage. The vendor has collected and restored more than 20 examples of the CB750 K0 over 10 years, and states that this is by far the most original and unmolested bike he has had the pleasure to find. It has evidently been carefully stored and well maintained throughout its life, and benefits from a recent mechanical overhaul to ensure it is ready to ride and enjoy.
