1969 ALFA ROMEO GT 1300 JUNIOR - 2.0 NORD ENGINE

This Alfa Romeo GT 1300 Junior ‘Stepnose’ is a rare right-hand-drive example of the classic sporting coupe, which has been prepared as a fast road car with a number of high-performance upgrades. In place of the original motor is a sought-after 2.0-litre twin-cam ‘Nord’ engine with twin Weber carburettors, coupled to a five-speed manual transmission. The odometer currently indicates 13,394 miles, though this is not warranted.

The chassis number corresponds to a genuine right-hand drive car built towards the end of the 1968 model year, though it is understood to have been first registered in 1969. The car was imported from South Africa in 2021 and has been prepared as a thrilling road car. It has not yet been registered with the DVLA, leaving the next owner to become the first official UK keeper.

Most significantly, the car now features a 2.0-litre ‘Nord’ engine with high-compression pistons, twin Weber carburettors, and Alfaholics carburettor mounts. Alfaholics also supplied a set of uprated air intake filters, while underneath, the car boasts a limited slip differential, a Van der Linde exhaust with a sports manifold, BMW four-pot brake callipers, and uprated rear suspension with Bilstein shock absorbers all round. The steering box has been rebuilt, while the car rides on a set of 15-inch Alfaholics GTA Veloce wheels with stainless steel nuts.

The bodywork of this GT Junior is in great shape, with the vendor noting it remains rust-free, and that the original bumpers, Strada wheels and chrome hub cabs will be supplied in the sale. The condition of the resprayed white finish has been described as excellent, though it presents with some minor stone chips around the front end and door sills. All of the chrome body trims appear to be in good shape, and the 15-inch GTA Veloce wheels are in superb condition.

Inside, the re-trimmed black upholstery is in excellent order, and the cabin now features inertia seatbelts. The carpets and door card inserts are both in great shape, and though the vendor reports that the grey painted dashboard has faded slightly, this is only noticeable under close inspection. Some light wear can be seen on the wooden gear knob. All of the dials and switchgear present well, and no electrical faults have been detected.

The last scheduled maintenance was undertaken in February 2021 at 13,100 miles, where technicians at MB Motors changed the engine oil, oil filter, and brake fluid. Prior to this, routine servicing was also undertaken in February 2020. The Pirelli tyres are reported to be in good condition, all with around 5mm of tread remaining.

This Alfa Romeo GT 1300 Junior is a sought-after right-hand drive example, which has been enhanced with a 2.0-litre ‘Nord’ motor and other modifications, including some desirable Alfaholics parts.
