1968 FIAT 500 F

This Fiat 500 F is a fully restored Italian classic, boasting enviable 1960s style and charm, and presented in an alluring colour scheme. Mounted at the rear is a 499cc 18hp engine, driving the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The odometer indicates 81,353 km.

Believed to be an original Italian-delivery example - which is where the car remains - this 500 F has been owned by the vendor for the last two months, and is fresh from a major refurbishment inside and out.

Today, it presents in excellent condition as you would imagine, with its Blu Lord paint finish appearing smooth and even across the body. There is no evidence of prior accident damage, and the shut lines and panel gaps are as good as you will find on any of these little Fiats. All of the body trims are in great shape, and it has been treated to the ‘Lusso’ style overriders for the front and rear chrome bumpers, and has the rectangular tail lights. Its half-length canvas roof is in superb order, as are all four wheels.

Inside, the cabin has been fully re-trimmed with smart tan upholstery, accented by white top sections for the front seats, and white piping. It complements the exterior colour beautifully, not to mention the two-spoke steering wheel and simple instrument binnacle. The gear shift and handbrake lever have even been treated to custom leather trims. There are dark blue carpets with blue floor mats, which are all unmarked and with no wear. The vendor reports no faults, and the main controls all work as they should.

The car is fresh from a complete mechanical restoration, which was finalised at 81,350 km. This includes a rebuilt engine, which is reported to be in excellent running condition. All of the tyres are also brand-new.

Accompanying the car are some invoices and receipts for the work on the mechanicals, bodywork, and electrics. However, there is no service history on file prior to its total renovation.

This Fiat 500 F is a timeless classic, and an eminently usable city car or urban runabout. With bags of Italian character, and finished in an appealing colourway, this fully restored ‘Cinquecento’ could be a superb ‘starter classic’, or would also be a credit to any established collection.
