1968 AUTOBIANCHI BIANCHINA PANORAMICA

This 1968 Autobianchi Bianchina Panoramica benefits from a prior restoration and is presented in a period-correct colour scheme. It is powered by the same 17.5bhp 499cc two-cylinder engine found in the Fiat 500D, which is mated to a four-speed manual transmission. The odometer currently displays 9,360 km, which is the distance covered since the engine was renewed.

Continuing Autobianchi’s tradition of creating more luxurious, upscale versions of Fiat’s diminutive 1960s road cars, the Bianchini Panoramica was was primarily marketed to the affluent as a luxurious recreational vehicle, which combined Italian design flair with impressive levels of practicality. First registered in 1968, this Panoramica ‘F’ was acquired by the seller two years ago, and was restored prior to their ownership. It is understood that the mechanical work involved a new or refurbished engine, a rebuilt electrical system, and a full overhaul of the carburettor.

This Panoramica’s bodywork is in reported to be in generally excellent condition, and is not believed to have suffered from any prior damage. There are minor age-related marks and blemishes around the paintwork, but it still presents well. The brightwork has a light patina, though the rear bumper chrome has flaked away on top with surface corrosion as a result. This Bianchina rides on a set of red-painted steel wheels, which are fitted with the correct chromed hub caps.

Moving inside, the seats and door cards are trimmed in red vinyl and are in very good order. The dashboard, steering wheel and controls present well, and there is red rubber flooring underfoot. The main switches are all functioning, and there are no known electrical faults.

This Bianchina’s most recent routine maintenance was a general service, which was carried out in 2019 at an indicated 8,000 km. It has no known mechanical faults, and its rebuilt engine still has just less than 10,000 km of use.

This Autobianchi Bianchina Panoramica is a rare and stylish Italian classic, which is sure to bring a smile to the face of anyone in passes by. Presenting in very good order for its age thanks to a prior restoration, this example is ready to enjoy immediately, nipping through town or put to use as a practical classic transporter.
