1967 MGB GT

This MGB GT is a superb example of the much-loved classic British sports car. Under the bonnet resides the 1.8-litre B-series engine with twin SU carburettors, powering the rear wheels only via a four-speed manual gearbox. The odometer reads only 13,656 miles, though this is unwarranted.

Initially registered on 3 May 1967, this UK-market model remains in compelling condition throughout, and is a turn-key example in which to enjoy the summer.

Finished in British Racing Green, the GT’s lines are accentuated by the excellent condition of its chromework, including rub strips and both front and rear bumpers. Only minor signs of pitting are visible on the front bumper over-riders, with some small marks and stone chips visible to the front end. The vendor states that two very minor dents are present in the rear three-quarter panels on both sides behind the doors. Wearing 14-inch wire wheels and knock-off hubs, these present well overall and add further 1960s charm.

Like the exterior, the cabin remains smart and period-correct. The seat bases show age-related signs of wear, while the window winders and dashboard switchgear show signs of ageing but remain in good working order. The three-spoke, thin-rimmed steering wheel remains in excellent condition, as do the Smiths gauges. The vendor adds that there are no known electrical faults.

The most recent service was carried out in March 2021 by Denyer Classic Cars of Chobham. This entailed replacement of the engine oil and filter, and the car is reported to be in good mechanical order.

This MGB GT benefits from an MOT completed on 23 March 2021, with zero advisories listed. However, as the car is over 40 years old, it is exempt from mandatory MOT testing. Its current MOT is the first the car has had since 2009, indicating a period of off-road storage over the last decade.

This MGB GT is a pleasing example of the British sports coupe, presented in a timeless colour scheme. While it would be an enjoyable companion on summer road trips, its correct 1960s appearance means that it could be a strong candidate for any classic car collection.
