CONDITION

• There is no known bodywork damage.
• The silver paintwork is in excellent condition having been resprayed to a high standard, with only one minor blemish on the front bumper, a couple of minor stone chips on the bonnet, and a few imperfections on the metal rear numberplate.
• The black leather-trimmed interior is described by the vendor as being in fair shape, with no obvious rips or tears to the upholstery. Some wear is visible on the original steering wheel, door cards, carpets, and seats, commensurate with the age and mileage of the vehicle.
• The fuel gauge, rev counter, stereo and heater are currently inoperative.
• While it is exempt from mandatory testing due to its age, the car’s last MOT test was conducted on 29 March 2021 at 90,543 miles, which resulted in a clean, first-time pass.

SERVICE HISTORY

• This 250 SL is fresh from its most recent service, which was carried out in September 2021 by Mercedes specialist H.A Lock.
• Previously, in April 2021 at 90,543 miles, H.A Lock refreshed the engine oil and filter, and adjusted the levels, fuel mixture and idle speed. They also greased the suspension components and road-tested the vehicle.
• Other maintenance work undertaken during the vendor’s ownership includes the removal, reconditioning and refitting of brake callipers, and replacement of the front and rear brake hoses and brake pads.
• A used brake servo has also been fitted, as well as a used fuel tank filter, a new master cylinder, a new gear linkage, a new hub seal kit, new rear propshaft lock plates, and a new Bosch battery. The throttle linkage has been adjusted, and the engine has been tuned.

SUMMARY

This is a handsome and substantially restored example of the characterful and highly sought-after Mercedes-Benz 250 SL. While some attention could next be paid to the interior to restore the vehicle to its full former glory, this stylish 1960s convertible is offered with an appealing specification, and is ready to delight another enthusiast.
