1966 TRIUMPH TR4A

KEY FACTS

  • A charming classic sports car, in wonderful restored condition and benefiting from a conversion to right-hand drive.
  • Under the bonnet sits a 2.1-litre inline-four engine, coupled to a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive.
  • Originally a US-market car, it reportedly stayed with its first keeper from 1967 until 2014, after which it was shipped to the UK and subsequently rebuilt and converted over a period of three years.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

  • The car has been restored in its original colours of New White over a black leather interior, as confirmed by the BMIHT certificate in the history file.
  • Its factory specification included the beam axle, wire wheels, Michelin X tyres, a jack and spare wheel.
  • Some original US paperwork is on file, along with the heritage certificate and some recent invoices for parts during the restoration.

CONDITION

  • There is no known prior bodywork damage.
  • Its resprayed New White finish is in excellent condition, as can be appreciated in the photo gallery below.
  • Inside, the seats have been rebuilt using new foam and webbing, before being fitted with new black leather, and they remain in superb order.
  • All of the switchgear works as it should.
  • While the speedometer is functional, the vendor reports that it is slightly erratic in that it can waver between 10mph margins.
  • Its first MOT test was on 4 May 2021 at 88,624 miles, which flagged a brake reserve travel issue that needed to be resolved, before the car passed with no advisories the following day.

SERVICE HISTORY

  • Following the restoration and rebuild, it was given an engine oil and filter change in May 2021 at 88,624 miles, carried out by Loaders Garage.
  • Prior to this, the brakes were overhauled, the gearbox has been rebuilt and a new clutch has been installed.
