1965 FORD MUSTANG FASTBACK

This 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback is a superb piece of classic American muscle, which presents very well throughout and features a striking two-tone finish. Under the bonnet sits a 289ci (4.7-litre) V8, coupled to a slick automatic transmission. The odometer has recently been replaced with a digital readout that indicates 96 miles, but the original odometer is also available, which shows approximately 41,300 miles.

First registered in January 1965, the chassis number reveals that this Mustang was built in the New Jersey factory, and was originally equipped with the straight-six engine. In more recent years, it has been imported to the UK and re-registered with the DVLA in January 2019. Since then, this Mustang has been treated to some further upgrades, and has been in the hands of its current keeper for three years.

The bodywork is all in excellent shape, and the car now features a Shelby GT350 front bumper. It is finished in blue, with a white pinstripe and Shelby GT350 decals along the doors and rear quarters, with the vendor noting a few age-related stone chips can be seen on lower parts of the car. The chrome rear bumper presents with some slight discolouration caused by heat from the exhausts, though the remainder of the trim presents very well. The vehicle rides on a set of 14-inch wheels, which have a few light blemishes, but are in very good condition.

Inside, the black upholstery is described as being in excellent condition, presenting with just some very light creasing. Minus a couple of very light marks, the door cards are in good shape, along with the carpets and headlining. The cabin features a wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel, and while the original stereo is present, an aftermarket Pioneer alternative has been fitted in the glovebox. The metal dashboard presents with a few age-related marks, but the surrounding trim is all in good order.

The last routine maintenance was undertaken in May 2020 at American Technique in Watford, where technicians carried out a full service. The car is reported to be in very good mechanical order, with no known faults or issues.

The most recent MOT test was on 30 January 2019 at 41,955 miles, which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories or defects. Its wheels are wrapped with a set of Hankook whitewall tyres, which appear to be in good condition.

Accompanying the vehicle are a Ford performance car booklet, a selection of maintenance invoices, and two sets of keys.

This Ford Mustang Fastback is an excellent example of the classic American muscle car, which benefits from a more powerful engine, and a recent cosmetic overhaul to produce a truly bespoke classic. It presents in superb condition throughout, and would make an eye-catching weekend cruiser.
