KEY FACTS
- A superb, fully restored example of an iconic British classic, which retains its original body shell.
- It is powered by a new-old-stock 1275cc inline-four from the same year, coupled to a replacement and fully refurbished four-speed synchromesh manual gearbox.
- It was restored between 2015 and 2020, with excellent documentation on file, and benefits from a recent final snagging session and tune-up.
EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES
- This Morris Mini Cooper S is thought to be one of just three examples to leave the factory in a special order single colour scheme of Tweed Grey, but its roof has since been resprayed white during the restoration.
- It has rubber cone suspension, otherwise known as ‘dry’ suspension, which was only fitted to Cooper S models until September 1964, when it was replaced with the Hydrolastic system.
- The fresh interior trim was supplied by leading specialist, Newton Commercial.
- It will be accompanied by its original owner's manual, along with a workshop manual and an extensive record of the restoration process, including invoices and photographs.
- The original engine block that had been over-bored is also available, should the next owner wish to keep it with the car.
CONDITION
- Its bodywork remains original, but it has been comprehensively restored and repainted in the original Tweed Grey, so the finish is in genuinely superb order.
- Similarly, its re-trimmed two-tone cream and grey upholstery is in excellent shape, with very little mileage covered since the restoration.
- All of the electrics and switches work as they should.
- The most recent MOT test was on 9 May 2020 at 75,221 miles, which was a clean pass with no advisories or defects. It is exempt from mandatory testing on the basis of age.
SERVICE HISTORY
- The car was restored by various specialists between 2015 and 2020, comprising a refurbishment of the original body shell and front subframe, while the rear subframe was replaced.
- Its most recent service was in June 2020, where technicians at Wellbrook Motor Services in East Sussex replaced the airbox, steering rack, and carburettor floats and needles as part of a final post-restoration tune-up.
