An unusual sight in any collection, this handsome 1963 Lamborghini 1R tractor is a fully restored example of a classic agricultural machine, offering the sort of off-road performance seldom associated with the iconic brand.

It is powered by an air-cooled 1.5-litre two-cylinder diesel engine, which produces around 26bhp and drives the rear wheels via a manual transmission, which features six forward and two reverse gears.

Prior to the formation of the now iconic Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. in 1963, founder Ferruccio Lamborghini was better known for the production of tractors under the Lamborghini Trattori brand, with the first rolling off the production line in 1948.

First registered in 1963, this handsome 1R tractor was fully restored in March 2020 and is now located Piedmont, Italy, where it is offered for sale by its current owner, who has enjoyed its rugged charms for the past four years.

Today, the utilitarian bodywork is in good, solid condition, and the period-correct sky blue and orange paintwork presents very well, having been resprayed during the vehicle’s restoration and spared the rigours of agricultural use since.

The tractor’s badges and lettering have also been tended to and are in excellent condition, while the switches and gauges appear to have been left untouched and have a delightful patina to their surfaces. Its original steel wheels are also present, and are finished in the same blue and orange livery as the bodywork, with all four remaining in great shape.

Offered in fine running order, this 1R also benefitted from a complete mechanical overhaul in March 2020, with the fuel pump and injectors having been refurbished and the entire braking system replaced, including the brake shoes and fluid.

A new exhaust system was also fitted and all of the wiring was replaced, which should ensure many years of trouble-free enjoyment for its next owner. The tyres appear to be in serviceable condition but may benefit from replacement due to cracking on their sidewalls, and are described by the seller as being approximately 30% worn.

This classic Lamborghini tractor is accompanied by a selection of documents which verify its history and production, including the correct ‘libretto’ registration certificate.

Representing an intriguing period in the history of what is now one of the world’s best-known supercar manufacturers, this Lamborghini 1R tractor is a striking yet entirely functional classic agricultural vehicle.

Benefitting from a full cosmetic and mechanical restoration, it will make a unique addition to any collection, whether that is alongside other examples of 1960s farm equipment or flanked by the likes of a Miura, Countach, or Aventador.
