1962 JAGUAR E-TYPE SERIES 1 3.8 FHC

This 1962 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 is a beautifully restored and numbers-matching example of an iconic British coupé, with a sumptuous Connolly leather interior and a smart grey paint finish. It is equipped with a rebuilt 3.8-litre straight-six using its original cylinder head, coupled to a five-speed Getrag manual transmission. The odometer currently indicates 4,539 miles, though the vendor reports that the clock is on its second cycle, which is supported by the MOT history. The accurate mileage is therefore believed to be 104,539 miles, though it has been used sparingly since the restoration.

First registered in March 1963, this Jaguar E-Type has been in the hands of its current keeper for two years. The car has been rebuilt to the factory colour scheme on the official heritage certificate, with an engine rebuilt by Chesman Motorsport in Coventry, a Connolly leather interior from renowned E-Type specialist Mick Turley and a set of period-correct wire wheels. It also features uprated brakes with Coopercraft four-pot front callipers.

The car’s elegant bodywork is all in excellent shape, having been restored to its original factory form, with a previously installed Webasto sunroof removed, and subsequently repainted in the original Opalescent Silver Grey colour. Its paintwork looks superb, and the chrome body trims are in great condition. The vehicle rides on a set of replacement wire wheels with period-correct Blockley tyres, all of which are immaculate.

Inside, the car’s Connolly red leather interior is in superb condition, still looking wonderfully fresh from its professional re-trim. The rest of the interior is also in excellent order, including the metal centre console and dashboard elements, beige headlining, dials, switchgear controls and period-correct three-spoke steering wheel.

The most recent MOT test was on 19 February 2021 at 103,778 miles, which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories or defects. The Blockley tyres are in virtually as-new condition. Accompanying the vehicle is a partial history, though the heritage certificate is also present to confirm that the car is now in its original factory colour scheme.
