1959 MGA 1600 ROADSTER

KEY FACTS

  • A charming classic roadster, which would make a great candidate for a restoration project through 2021.
  • Under the bonnet is a 1.6-litre pushrod inline-four, coupled to a four-speed manual transmission.
  • Thought to have had some damage to the offside front, it will likely require some repairs to the chassis as well as general refurbishment.
  • Previously registered overseas, it was imported to the UK and re-registered in February 2020.

EQUIPMENT AND OPTIONS

  • Finished in grey over black, this MG A cuts a dash, and it is accented by plenty of chromed trim.
  • It rides on 15-inch wheels with polished hub caps.
  • It comes with clip-on sliding side window attachments, as well as a pop-fastened soft top hood, as shown in the gallery.
  • The black upholstery for the seats also extends to similar black trim for the door caps and dashboard surround. There is a smart wood-rimmed steering wheel in place.
  • No service history is present, but bidders are welcome to ask whatever questions they may have.

CONDITION

  • The vendor understands that the car has had prior accident damage to the main chassis, as the offside front wheel is slightly out of position; so this will need inspecting and repairing as needed in the future.
  • Its grey paintwork has been renewed in the past, though it is in fair order today, with blistering on some panels, and chipped and flaked paint elsewhere in places.
  • The interior is believed to be original, and the upholstery is in generally good condition for its age; though it has some minor nicks at the top of the driver’s seat, and general patina throughout.
  • There are no known electrical faults.

SERVICE HISTORY

  • While the car does not come with any service history, during the vendor’s ownership it has received a new battery, wheel bearings, front and rear brake discs, and front suspension bushes and king pins.
