1958 ASTON MARTIN DB2/4 MKIII DROPHEAD COUPE

• A fantastic example of a gorgeous classic sports car, in a rare factory specification.
• It is powered by the 2.9-litre Lagonda straight-six, fed by twin SU carburettors, and is thought to be one of only 40 cars with the optional Laycock overdrive on the four-speed manual gearbox.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

• Changes over the DB2/4 Mark II included a new mesh front grille inspired by the DB3S, a revised instrument panel and hydraulic clutch.
• This example features the optional dual exhaust, and is fitted with Girling front disc brakes.
• A RetroTrip odometer and a fire extinguisher have been installed in the cabin.
• It will be accompanied by a 2011 FIVA identity card, an Aston Martin certificate of authenticity, a recent rolling road printout, and a raft of MOT certificates and service invoices.

CONDITION

• No known bodywork damage.
• Its resprayed paintwork is in excellent condition, as shown in the photo gallery. There may be the odd very minor mark from road use, but it presents very well indeed.
• The black leather seats are believed to be entirely original, showing 63 years of age through wrinkles and creasing, and some surface wear around the driver’s seat bolster.
• A few marks can be seen on the door cards and seat backs, including one worn-through patch on the top-right corner of the driver’s seat where it has rubbed against the pillar trim behind. The floor mat on the driver’s side has frayed and worn through on the rubberised heel area.
• No electrical or mechanical faults have been detected.
• The car is exempt from mandatory MOT testing on the basis of age.

SERVICE HISTORY

• Its most recent service was performed in-house at 22,133 miles, where the oil and filter were changed, and the engine was given a full check-over. The front king-pins have also just been renewed.
• The vendor owns a number of significant classic cars and is also involved in historic motorsport, so all of their vehicles are kept in very good mechanical order.
