1957 WILLYS JEEP (CJ-3B)

This 1957 CJ-3B type Willys Jeep is a genuine example of the highly collectible American utility truck, presented in excellent condition following a recent comprehensive restoration. It is powered by the 2.2-litre ‘Hurricane’ inline-four engine producing around 60bhp, coupled with a three-speed manual transmission. The odometer currently indicates 9,860 km, though this cannot be warranted.

First registered in 1960, this charming Jeep has been with its current keeper for the last year. It is now offered by a specialist car dealer in Italy.

To the best of the vendor’s knowledge, the rugged bodywork of this Willys Jeep has never sustained any significant damage, now presenting with smooth, even panels. The condition of the Military Green paintwork is excellent, benefitting from a recent respray and featuring fun military decals on the bonnet, wings and rear end. A decorative axe and shovel are positioned on either side of the vehicle for added effect, both presenting in pristine order. The vehicle rides on a set of 16-inch matching Military Green wheels, which are in near perfect condition on all corners, with the exception of one or two light surface blemishes on the otherwise tidy centre caps.

Moving inside, the seats have been re-trimmed with green camouflage cloth, now featuring the initials ‘A.M.’ stitched into the back panels. The upholstery is described as being in excellent condition, presenting with no rips, tears or significant creasing. The folding windscreen appears to be in full working order, as are all of the dashboard controls and switches. The original Kaiser Jeep Corporation plaque sits on the passenger side of the dash, presenting with some age-related blemishes, which add to the Jeep’s authenticity.

The vendor notes the last routine maintenance took place as part of the restoration process in 2020; during which time a full engine service was carried out alongside interior improvements and a complete respray.

This 1957 Willys Jeep is a very smart example of the sought-after ‘Civilian Jeep’ model, featuring custom interior upholstery, a nod to its military inspiration, and with a recent mechanical service under its belt. This Willys Jeep is a great example of the breed, which would make an interesting talking point in any collector’s garage.
