1957 VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE - OVAL WINDOW

KEY FACTS

• A charming early ‘Oval Window’ version of one of the world’s most beloved classic cars, presented in superb restored condition.
• Its engine has been upgraded to a 1500cc air-cooled engine, coupled to a four-speed manual transmission.
• Currently located in Mexico City, the car has a permit but is not currently registered with plates.
• The seller is only the third owner from new, and has annual ‘tenencia’ (vehicle tax) payments dating back to 1960.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

• While the motor has been upgraded to a genuine 1500cc air-cooled engine, the original numbers-matching 1200cc engine is included in disassembled condition.
• While it is believed to have left the factory finished in blue, the bodywork has since been restored and repainted in a smart brown hue.
• The seats were upgraded prior to the restoration, upholstered in tan with textured centre panels.

CONDITION

• There is no known bodywork damage.
• The restoration was completed just a few months ago, and the brown paint finish is in excellent condition. It will be freshly detailed prior to handover.
• Inside, the seat upholstery is in very good order, showing just a very slight ‘patina’ but no significant wear. There is minor discolouration on the top right corner.
• There are no known electrical faults; all of the switchgear works correctly.

SERVICE HISTORY

• With a restoration completed just a few months ago, the car has covered only around 200 km since, and has required no further maintenance following installation of the upgraded engine. The refurbishment work was done by Mustang Garage Mexico.

This Volkswagen Beetle is a superbly presented example of a design and cultural icon. Fresh from a restoration with excellent paintwork and a recent re-trim of the interior, this car wants for nothing.
