1956 MGA ROADSTER

KEY FACTS

  • A wonderful, fully restored example of the popular British sports car, which has enhanced performance thanks to a retrofitted MG B engine.
  • In place of the original 1.5-litre powertrain is a 1.8-litre B-Series inline-four, which produces around 95bhp and drives the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission and an MG B rear axle.
  • Initially delivered overseas in left-hand drive, it was acquired by the seller three years ago and converted to right-hand drive as part of the restoration – and has covered just 24 miles since then.

EQUIPMENT AND OPTIONS

  • Fully repainted and re-trimmed, this MG A is finished in the attractive and period-appropriate hue of Iris Blue with a grey leather interior and black vinyl hood.
  • The car rides on a set of brand-new 15-inch wire wheels, which are fitted with the correct two-eared knock-off hub nuts.
  • It is equipped with an MG B rear axle for improved driveability and a higher top speed.
  • Having been completely restored, this handsome British classic is in period-correct specification, save for its upgraded engine.

CONDITION

  • No bodywork damage or signs of corrosion.
  • Having been fully resprayed, the Iris Blue paintwork is in excellent condition, with no marks, blemishes or damage to speak of.
  • The wire wheels are all in very good order, and all four tyres are new.
  • The grey vinyl hood fits snugly over its frame, and is free of any rips or tears, and the brightwork is also in great shape.
  • Inside, the cabin has been retrimmed in grey leather, and presents particularly well.
  • There are no known electrical or mechanical faults.
  • Described by the vendor as being in as-new condition with replacement parts throughout, this MGA has benefitted from a full mechanical overhaul.

SUMMARY

Fully restored and presenting as well as when it left the factory in 1956, this MGA Roadster is a superb example of a quintessential British sports car. Enhanced by the addition of a later 1.8-litre B-series engine, this charming classic will be equally at home sprinting along a country lane as on a long-distance road trip, and could even make a fine companion for historic rallies.
