EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

• Based upon an 1928 Oakland Six two-door sedan, this ‘rat rod’ uses the metal factory frame, but it has been boxed and cross-braced for strength.
• The body has been chopped by around four inches, and there are currently no fenders or running boards fitted to give an open-wheel hot-rod appearance - though these parts come with the car.
• Sections of original paint remain on the body, which the seller believes is Mount Vernon Blue. The rest is largely painted in red primer, or is unpainted and stripped back. Custom tail light pods have been fabricated and welded on.
• The roof has been pared away to open wood slats, giving the car a semi-open-air ambience for the occupants. A six-point chromoly steel roll cage is fitted.
• Its engine bay is open, showing off the 1969 Pontiac motor with its bright polished valve covers and prominent side-exit exhausts. Hood panels are also supplied.
• The motor itself is equipped with Kauffman high-port heads, Edelbrock valve covers, and Kinsler 8-stack fuel injection. An aluminium radiator is also installed
• This ‘rat rod’ is equipped with four-wheel disc brakes.
• Inside there is a pair of modern grey leather seats, which have been embroidered with ’Oakland’, and fitted with five-point Simpson safety harnesses. There is an occasional rear bench seat trimmed in grey cloth.

CONDITION

• The paintwork is described as being in poor condition, though of course that is largely deliberate. Its painted radiator shell would benefit from refinishing, but the rest of the car perfectly exudes the ‘rat rod’ style.
• The seats are all in good condition, with no rips or tears, and only typical signs of use.
• The seller reports that the heater core leaks, and the fuel gauge is not accurate. Other than this, there are no known faults.
• While the exterior is purposefully aged and distressed, the photos in the gallery show the high-quality fit and finish of the chassis, floor, drivetrain and other mechanicals.
• Previously self-serviced by the seller, they report that it is due for another oil change.
• The intake manifold gasket is not metal lined, so needs to be re-torqued - and extra gaskets are readily available from Kauffman Racing Equipment.
