The McGrath Collection
The McGrath Collection
The Collecting Cars team is proud to introduce its sixth collection sale of the year, and its first to be made up exclusively of two-wheeled machines. The motorbikes and scooters that form just a small part of the larger McGrath Collection represent a fascinating cross-section of Italian motoring history, from a 1948 Moto Guzzi Guzzino 65 Corsa through to a smart example of the 1991 Piaggio Vespa 50 Revival.
Among the collection are beautifully original 1950s models from Bianchi, comprising a Bianchina 125 and Cervino 175, and from the same era, a stylish Piaggio Vespa 50 Struzzo. A customised 1959 Lambretta LI 150 S1 typifies the cheeky Italian character of the marque, while lesser-seen machines such as the Iso Isomoto 125 and Benelli Gentleman are also present.
A 1968 Moto Guzzi Stornello Sport 125 and 1971 Dingo 50 Sport draw the eye with their classic red and black colour schemes, and there are also stylish scooters with the likes of a 1984 Piaggio Vespa ET3 125 Primavera and 1991 Vespa 50 Revival. The former was for some time the fastest model in the Vespa range, thanks to its Electronic 3 Port 124cc motor, while the latter celebrated a 1960s classic three decades on with a special edition production run of just 3,000 examples.
While some of the motorbikes and scooters have had prior cosmetic refurbishment, the majority are highly original, with the post-war Bianchis in particular offering stunning time-earned patina and wonderful historic appeal. As the McGrath Maserati collection of Italian cars and bikes is constantly evolving, from time to time it is necessary to sell some items to make way for new arrivals, so this assembly of 18 classic Italian machines is now offered to other keen enthusiasts to enjoy.
