George Harrison’s 1967 Mercedes-Benz 600 Hits Auction

Originally used as a demonstrator car for Mercedes-Benz GB, it was subsequently acquired by The Beatles’ lead guitarist, George Harrison MBE. This is evidenced by numerous period photos showing Harrison with this car, bearing license plate “OLA 600E.” It is accompanied by copies of documentation proving George Harrison’s former ownership in the 1960s.

The Mercedes-Benz 600 Ex-George Harrison car auction is live and ends on Tuesday 27th July.

An example of the “Grand Mercedes,” this 600 is powered by a 6.3-litre ‘M100’ V8 with mechanical fuel injection, coupled to a four-speed automatic transmission.

Harrison’s Mercedes is one of just two 190 short-wheelbase W100-generation 600s built. The 600 succeeded the acclaimed 300D ‘Adenauer’ as the marque’s flagship luxury model. Built in very small numbers, it was a favourite of royalty, political leaders, captains of industry, and discerning celebrities.

The car also has pneumatic, adjustable self-levelling air suspension, which established the foundation for Mercedes’ current ‘Active Body Control’ system, which assures exceptional ride quality.
