This Yamaha YZF-R6 is a low-mileage example of a legendary sports bike, which has been owned by the seller for the last 10 years. Its engine is a 599cc DOHC inline-four, producing around 127bhp, coupled to a six-speed manual transmission with a slipper clutch. The odometer shows approximately 4,000 miles from new.

Described by Motorcycle News as “a motorcycle that delivers high rpm performance, razor sharp handling and is finished off with looks straight from the race track”, the YZF-R6 is a superb ‘race-replica’ bike that is a thrill on the road, but even more fun on a circuit.

First registered 30 May 2009, this Yamaha has just one previous registered keeper on the log book. The seller acquired it in June 2010, and used and enjoyed it for the next five years. However, subsequently health issues have meant that the seller has been unable to ride it since 2015, so it has been under SORN certificates. He has now decided it is time to offer the bike to another enthusiast.

The frame and body is described as being in good condition, with the seller noting only one or two very small marks from road use, for example where a stone has chipped the finish. The exterior remains original, with the exception of crash protector bars that have been fitted to the front and back. The bike is equipped with twin floating 310mm discs at the front with four-piston callipers, and a single 220mm disc at the rear. It rides on gold 17-inch wheels that remain in excellent condition.

As the bike has been off the road for the last five years, its last scheduled maintenance was an annual service in July 2014 at 2,454 miles, carried out by Yamaha main dealer Flitwick Motorcycles. Prior to this, it was serviced regularly, with the next most recent visits being in 2012 at 2,330 miles, and 2011 at 1,836 miles.

The seller reports that the battery is currently flat, but he has no reason to believe there are any faults on the bike. After around five years off the road, it will obviously be prudent to give the bike a fresh service before any riding.

The most recent MOT test was on 5 July 2014 at 2,454 miles, when it achieved a first-time pass with no advisories. The wheels are currently fitted with Bridgestone S20R Evo tyres, for which there is an invoice in the history file.

Accompanying the bike is the original owner’s manual, stamped service history, and all three keys including the red master key. The bike has been stored on stands, so the seller believes the tyres should also remain in good order with no flat spots.

This Yamaha YZF-R6 is a low-mileage, low owner count example of a renowned road and track bike. It is honestly presented as having been unused for the last five years, and therefore being in need of a recommissioning service. However, its regular maintenance prior to this is evidence of a well cared-for machine. Now seeking a new owner, it will undoubtedly prove to be a thrilling companion once it is back on the road.

Summary of service history:

  • 07/07/2009 - 605 miles
  • 11/06/2010 - 844 miles
  • 30/04/2011 - 1,836 miles
  • 17/08/2012 - 2,330 miles
  • 05/07/2014 - 2,454 miles
  • 2015-present - No services as stored under SORN

All UK-registered cars and motorbikes on Collecting Cars are run through an online HPI check. This vehicle shows no insurance database markers for damage or theft, and has no finance owing.

Hi

Yea it would but I am selling it as advertised and the reserve is set according to that. Hope that helps?

Kevnick

Hi , i am curious why you don't fit a new battery, surely this would help the bike realise its true value as it would be running

Kronosseller

Hi

The bike is for sale as described. So it will need a mot service and battery.

Hope this helps.

LancasterM

Are you willing to put a new battery in it for the buyer and pls confirm the bike actually starts ? That would be helpful. Thanks

Kronosseller

Hi

Well it was on a trickle charger however the battery is flat dispite this. I would not say it is a non runner but I do think it needs a new battery. Don’t know if this helps at all?

LancasterM

Ok. Are you sure the bike will start if for example jump leads are used due to the flat battery, or is this being sold as a non runner bike ?

Kronosseller

Hi

Sorry but no it is collection only. Thanks

LancasterM

Are you able to deliver this bike to London pls ?
